Premiere - Virtual Block 8.1

This is the dated constructed pool of May – September 2012. For the fixed pre-reset pool played since 2014, see Legacy Open. For all pools of this era, see Virtual Legacy.

Premiere - Virtual Block 8.1 is the constructed card pool of every Decipher card plus the Players Committee virtual cards through Virtual Block 8.1: Scoundrels. The 8.1 PDF has official text as of 11 May 2012.[1] No release post or tournament-legal date was found. Decklists of the 2012 US Nationals (8–10 June 2012) already use 8.1 cards such as Bane Malar, Spice Addict and Boba Fett, Prepared Hunter.[2] The pool lasted until Virtual Block 8.2, released on 20 September 2012, became legal; that date is unknown.[3] The Players Committee's name for its constructed format until 2014 was Standard: the 25 July 2014 announcement that replaced this pool was titled "Reset of Standard Format" and said that "The new Standard tournament format will consist of all post-reset V Cards".[4] "Legacy" was created only then, for the pre-reset cards.

Card pool

The pool is every Decipher card plus every Players Committee virtual release up to and including 8.1 Scoundrels:

History

Scoundrels opened Block 8 with 49 cards (25 Dark Side, 24 Light Side).[22] Its announcement on 14 April 2012 set the theme as "those who live on the fringe".[23]

On 29 June 2012 the Players Committee announced 8.2 for 19 July "(and will be tournament legal 1 week thereafter, July 26th—just in time for Continentals)".[24] A "Change to virtual set 8.2 release date" followed on 6 July, a "v8.2 Preview Spoiler List" on 14 July and a "4-card Virtual Set 8.2 Preview!" on 20 July 2012.[25] On 8 August the Players Committee said it would hold back some 8.2 spoilers so it could "use data from the Euro Championship and Nationals to tweak some of the meta cards".[26] Whether the four 8.2 preview cards were tournament legal before 8.2 itself is not known.
