The Retro League (also Retro GEMP League and SWCCG Online Retro League) is an annual league run by the Players Committee on GEMP. Each season is a series of six-game events in older, Premiere-based formats. In 2022 and 2023 the champion was the player with the highest cumulative score. Since 2024 the champion is decided by the Retro Online Championship Series (ROCS), a playoff for the top 8. The first season was in 2022.[1] The 2021 Retro Event was a separate, earlier event on GEMP.

Format

  • Events: six games of Swiss, one game per week, ranked by strength of schedule.[2][3]
  • Play: players get an assigned opponent and play on GEMP with 45-minute timers per side.[4]
  • Cumulative standings: 3 points per win and 1 per loss, plus 4 bonus points for first and 2 for second in an event.[5]
  • Fee: 2022 was free. From 2023, a flat \$10 covers the whole season.[1][6]
