Premiere - Cloud City (Modified) is a retro constructed format: the Premiere - Cloud City card pool with a ban list, used each year since 2024 for Event 2 of the Retro League. The league's announcement says it "transports you back to 1997", to the last era of cards from A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back only and before starting interrupts, but with a series of cards banned, mostly from Dagobah, that lead to a negative player experience.[1][2]

  • Type: constructed
  • Defined by: Players Committee Retro League (2024)
  • Card pool: Premiere through Cloud City, with a ban list
  • In use: 2024 –
  • Also called: P-Cloud City (modified), Premiere to Cloud City (modified), PCCM[2][3]
  • GEMP: Premiere - Cloud City (Modified) (premiere_cc_m) on both the Players Committee GEMP and play.swccg.com

Card pool

Its card pool is the same as Premiere - Cloud City, Decipher set ids 1–5 and premium ids 101–105, with a ban list.[1] The GEMP format definition sets no deck size, so GEMP uses its default of 60 cards.[4][5]

Ban list

GEMP bans these cards:[1][6]

  • Light Side: Never Tell Me The Odds, Asteroid Sanctuary, Anger, Fear, Aggression, Clouds
  • Dark Side: 3,720 To 1, A Dangerous Time, Defensive Fire, Clouds, Scanning Crew

The 2024 Retro League used the first seven.[7] Clouds (Dark) and Scanning Crew were added for 2025,[8][2] and the list was unchanged in 2026.[3]

History

The format joined the Retro League in 2024 as Event 2.[7] It has been used for:
