User:Comlink Cursor/Jokes candidates
All the medium-strength candidates, the grouped ones and the rest, have moved to Jokes (26 October 2026), and so have the weaker readings that Bill picked: Boelo, Han's Back and the other Back cards, Ewok Log Jam, Blow Parried, Battle Droid Officer, General Jar Jar, Captain Tarpals and Nien Nunb. The cantina band, Res Luk Ra'auf and Bog-wing moved there too, the first two as Running gags. What is left is the weaker readings not yet added, and the new candidates from the round 13 card scan. Types follow Jokes.
Weaker readings
These readings are listed so they can be ruled in or out. They have no pictures.
| Card | Text | Suspected reference | Why it is weak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corporal Vandolay | Name | Art Vandelay, the made-up name George uses in Seinfeld | Different spelling, and nothing on the card points to the show |
| Gamall Wironicc, Rachalt Hyst | "He misses everything he'll never be." / "Everything she's ever cared about is now gone or dead." | Melancholy lines that read like song lyrics | No source found |
| Elite Squadron Stormtrooper | "All they know is killing and white uniforms." | Possibly a film line | No match found |
| Owen Lars | "Brother of Obi-Wan Kenobi." | An early story idea that Owen was Obi-Wan's brother | A story detail, not a joke |
| C-3PO (See-Threepio) | "Has never been memory-wiped... as far as he knows." | Self-aware: a memory wipe would not be remembered | Mild; see EG-6 above |
| K-3PO (Kay-Threepio) | Original: "Old-model protocol droid. Learned military tactics while under the ownership of Commander Narra. In charge of the droid pool at Echo Base." | The scan listed the game-rules wording "May initiate battle and be battled" as lore | That wording is not on the original card |
| Zutton | "Snivvian also known as 'Snaggletooth.'" | The name of the Kenner action figure | The nickname comes from the toy, not from Decipher |
| Captain Sarkli | "Piett's nephew. ... On fast-track to promotion." | A dig at favouritism in the Imperial Navy | Mild |
| OS-72-2 In Obsidian 2 | "Nicknamed 'Night Beast' for his many curfew violations." | A pun on the nickname | Mild |
| Lateral Damage | Title | A play on "collateral damage" | Possibly a straight term |
| Your Ship? | "As the old gamblers' saying about sabacc goes: 'Win the game, lose a friend.'" | An invented proverb | Mild |
| Visage | "Considered a joke assignment by most lower-ranked Naval officers." | Uses the word "joke" about itself | Mild |
| Kal'Falnl C'ndros, Arleil Schous | "Has custom-built ship with tall corridors. Lays eggs." / "Has lost the ability to warp light." | Deadpan last lines | Mild |
| Shocking Information, Shocking Revelation | Titles | R2-D2 gets an electric shock; Threepio is shot | A mild pun |
| Jabba Desilijic Tiure | "...only Bib Fortuna knows the exact number." | "Fortuna" sounds like "fortune" | A stretch |
| Racing Skiff | "Barada and Klaatu strip down and rebuild old skiffs to race on the Dune Sea." | Pairs Klaatu and Barada again, like Klaatu, Barada, Nikto on Jokes | Could be a footnote to that block |
New candidates from the round 13 card scan
These come from a read of the lore, titles and game text of the 2,204 Decipher cards that are not yet on Jokes, the lists above, Easter eggs, Anagrams or Talk:Jokes. Running gags across several cards are left out here. Quotes are from the cards' wiki pages. They have no pictures yet.
Strong
| Card | Text | Reading | Type and fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ubrikkian 9000 Z001 | Title | "Ubrikkian" is close to Kubrick, "9000" is the number of HAL 9000 and "Z001" reads as 2001, so the title points to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey[1][2] | Pop-culture reference. The name is older than the card: it was in Star Wars Blueprints (1977), and Pablo Hidalgo noted the Kubrick link.[1] It sits with Bespin Motors Void Spider THX 1138. |
| Solo Han | "If Han is defending a battle alone at a site, add two battle destiny." | The title turns "Han Solo" around, and the game text has Han fighting solo | Wordplay |
| The Bith Shuffle | Lore: "play at the Cantina with a distinctive rocking motion". Game text: "Shuffle any player's Reserve Deck or Lost Pile or Used Pile." | A shuffle is a dance, and the card shuffles a deck. Ommni Box, another band card, has the same game text. | Wordplay or design gag |
| Return Of A Jedi | "'Where did you dig up that old fossil?' ... 'Oh, he's not dead, not yet.' Obi's back!" | The title is Return of the Jedi with one word changed. The lore ends with the same "back" line as Han's Back and the other Back cards. | Film in-joke. Could join the Back cards on Jokes. |
| Motti | "Has a disturbing lack of faith." | Vader's line to Motti, "I find your lack of faith disturbing", turned into a fact about Motti[3] | Film in-joke. The same lore also calls him "an overrated leader". |
| Ghoel | "Mistakenly left in Jabba's palace. No one suspects its intelligence. Often tries to lick passersby." | Three flat lines that end on the licking | Deadpan lore |
| Magnetic Suction Tube (Dark Side) | "'Slurp.'" | The whole lore is a sound effect. The Light Side card says Jawas use the tube to suck up droids "(and anything else that's not nailed down)". | Deadpan lore. The pair could go together. |
| Podracer Collision | "Podracing demands constant attention to many variables as well as all opponents. Failure to do so can often result in reduced performance." | A crash called "reduced performance" | Deadpan lore |

| Leia, Rebel Princess | "After attracting Luke's attention and then Han's attention, Leia should not have been surprised when she got more attention than desired from Jabba." | Understatement | Deadpan lore |
| Merc Sunlet | "A crafty purloiner from Tirac Munda with a heart of gold. Often hired to advise the wealthy on how to protect their own property." | The thief with a heart of gold, and a thief paid to advise on theft | Deadpan lore |

| Eject! Eject! | "The Guidenhouser ejection seat has saved many pilots ... However, system malfunctions have sometimes caused spontaneous ejection." | A safety seat that throws the pilot out by itself | Deadpan lore |
