Introduction
This deck aims for space superiority through the might of the Imperial starfleet and their magic tractor beams.
Decklist
Strategy
I basically want to win through drains at battleground systems that are within range of the Death Star in order to strike some Fear into my opponent. If he wants to try and take me on, I bust out my tractor beams and capture his puny vessels.
During your turn, you may choose to grab a planet with Mob Points. Mob Points can then be ditched for IAO, in order to get some high forfeit Imps! Use the Imp Command-Piett-Merrejk combo to get out the rest of your systems. Set up FWKTIL and you can start letting the hurt pour in. Honor of the jedi does not effect you as much since Fear damage is a single loss- ie if you occupy 2 systems, and honor is out, the opponent would still lose 2 force. One you hit three systems, you are back to an unaffected loss of 6.
Battling is encouraged. You get to restrict the opponent to 2 destiny at the very least with Imp. Domination. You also retrieve any Imperial and get to draw one into hand during a battle- it makes drawing Vader for destiny so much easier. You also have decent support cards for tractor beaming. With some tracking, you can easily capture most ships, thereby screwing with a multiple mains player and making a big power swing.
I hade decided to keep CPI in with the new Hoth objective in mind. Plus, the retrieval and deploy bonuses are nice.
Card Choices:
Praji- grabbed by Piett, can grab Ozzel, Lennox, Chiraneau, Merrejk, and M'kae.
Death Star Gunners- obviously used to help CPI, but also used with Strategic Reserves. I play one to cancel a drain, deploy to DS, and then send them to used pile next turn, and then used the non-flipped objective to pull them again =)
M'kae- Tractor beamings' best friend. He grabs Besieged (V), Our First Catch (which also cancels Hyper Escape), and the beams themselves.
Come With Me- I've got Vader and 4 Admirals, so it is very usable. It can get any of my characters except Palpy and the Gunner. I like being able to send it to the used pile to draw a pilot into hand from the table. I can make Lennox fly to tractor more than once, Thrawn to add some destiny, or Vader to add some protection.
Besieged- lets me capture pilots and encourages opponent to lose ships (and pilots) outright.
I want that Ship- it's basically icing on the cake, lets me hurt the other player when I ineveitablly capture them.
A Bright Center- To combat many deck types, especially the new LU (V). This may encourage the opponent to come to the D*, which would play into my hand.
Force Field- protect Palpy
Shut Down The Main Reactor- Freezes a ship till the end of your next turn. Insta-beatdown versus fragrant Hyper Escapers.
Still Coming Through- Anti evasion
Unsalvageable- cancels a bunch of pesky space interrupts
In Range- lets me use my tractor beams as weapons- If I fail, it is still power and manuever -3.
Tyrant- +1 to Tractor draws
Vengeance- Power +2 at Nal Hutta
Dominator- can be retrieved by Rendili
Everything else is pretty straightforward. Please rate and let me know what can be done better, and weigh in on the CPI or not to CPI debate.
Thanks!
EDIT- Thanks for the review, Wedge! I'm guessing you want the CPI stuff to stay in. I will consider removing a card to fit another Superlaser in- though I am confident that one will do the trick. I was wrong- added a second superlaser.
EDIT- Thanks for the review, Cam! In Range is in here, at the bottom of the interrupts section. I'm packing 2.
EDIT- Thanks for the review, Catman! In actuality, Adm Motti fits better IMO- especially with Imp Command, since Motti is not an Admrial. Good call about Mara- I thought she did suspend ID, but your post on the PC forums cleared that up. I'll add her in my next revision. I did have the DS TB in for a period of time in design, but never kept it in the final version. I felt it was too focused of card for it to be more useful than standard TBs.
