Virtual Legacy is the Players Committee era of thematic Virtual Blocks and Legacy Virtual Shields packaging, from the 2009 reorganization of the numbered Virtual Sets through the 2014 Virtual Card Pool Reset. On this wiki the Block hubs are Virtual Block 1 through Virtual Block 9 plus Virtual Shields. The cards are no longer valid for current Standard / Open constructed play; they remain the pool for Legacy Open.

From numbered Virtual Sets

From 2002 through early 2009 the Players Committee published printable Virtual game-text slips as numbered Virtual Sets (VS1–VS17 on the surviving CDN / virtual-slips library). The first set was announced 12 February 2002 and tournament-legal Saturday, 9 March 2002.

Players sleeved the PDF cutouts over Decipher cards. That modifier / sleeve presentation is a different layer from Block-era and current Virtual packaging. Fifth Anthology was previewed as the 18th Virtual Set in June 2009, never shipped as a standalone VirtualCards18.pdf, and its preview titles shipped inside Reflections IV / Virtual Block 6. 2009 Block reorganization

In August/September 2009 the Players Committee regrouped the previous numbered Virtual Sets into six thematic Virtual Blocks. A homepage snapshot from 18 September 2009 carries contemporary news about Reflections IV together with virtual-set realignment. The firm PDF stamp is Official text as of 7 December 2009 on VirtualBlock1.pdf (same blurb on Blocks 2–5):

“Since the reorganization of the previous 18 virtual sets, there are now six blocks structured by theme. The first three blocks cover the classic trilogy, block 4 expands the expanded universe, the fifth block buffs the Old Republic, and block 6 is a mix - Reflections IV.”

Block packaging is a later organizational / presentational layer for the pre-Reset pool. It is not a silent rename of every old VS PDF. Titles, frames, errata, and which cards remain legal can differ; Virtual cards could be dropped more easily than reprinting physical product. Hub: 2009 Virtual Block Reorganization.

Virtual Blocks

The Players Committee virtual-slips library still labels Legacy Virtual Sets (2002–2009) separately from Legacy Virtual Blocks (2009–2014). The printable Master List icon key names the nine Blocks as “Virtual Set N” with the themes below (A New Hope through Republic At War).

Dates and counts match the Main Page Virtual Legacy band and the Block hubs. September 2009 on Blocks 1–6 is the reorganization date, not the first print year of every card (those cards were originally released across 2002–2009 as Virtual Sets 1–18).

Virtual Shields is the Legacy / Block packaging of Defensive Shields (Original-era slips: Defensive Shields). The shields were grouped as Virtual Block Defensive Shields in the September/October 2009 packaging era.

Later blocks (7–9)

Blocks 7–9 are post-reorg expansions, not part of the original six-block remap.

• Virtual Block 7 (Darkness Rising / Ultimate series). First subset Virtual Set 7.1 Ultimate Power ~27 June 2010. Later subsets on the hub: 7.2 Ultimate Freedom (released 13 December 2010; tournament legal 29 December 2010); 7.3 Ultimate Conflict (3 June 2011); 7.4 Ultimate Legacy (16 December 2011).
• Virtual Block 8 (Scoundrels). First subset Virtual Set 8.1 Scoundrels, May 2012. Later subsets: 8.2 Agents For Hire (20 September 2012); 8.3 A Wretched Hive (March 2013 window).
• Virtual Block 9 (Republic At War). Virtual Set 9.1 Republic at War was released 10 January 2014 and legal immediately. Virtual Set 9.2 was not released in its then-current form; the Reset announce cancelled that plan in favor of a mini Worlds set that was remolded later. Details: Cancelled Virtual Sets.

The cover banner is Official text as of 27 April 2013. Distiller dates both files 3 February 2014 (author jeremy / Jeremy Gardner, Graphic Design Team; copyright SWCCG Players Committee 2014). The cover states the document contains the up-to-date text of every virtual card released by the Players Committee, sorted alphabetically by card type, as printable slips to sleeve over original cards.

That Distiller date is after Virtual Set 9.1 (10 January 2014) and before the Reset announce (25 July 2014). The official-text banner itself still reads 27 April 2013. Some slips in these files supersede earlier Virtual Block presentations of the same titles. Correcting individual Legacy card articles on this wiki from those slips is later work; this page hosts the PDFs so that pass has a primary file.

An HTML type list of the same combined pool is VMasterType.html. The current Players Committee Legacy format page is starwarsccg.org/legacy/ (updated 30 July 2022).

The July 2014 Reset announce said Legacy would keep all pre-Reset Virtual cards in a Master Legacy PDF (a fixed pool unless later Design & Development work supported Legacy balance). These February 2014 Final Master files are the last combined printable master this wiki has on file from before that announce. They are not automatically the post-Reset frozen “Master Legacy PDF” named in the July post.

2014 Reset

On 25 July 2014 the Advocate Council published Reset of Standard Format and chose a complete reset of the virtual card pool rather than a cleanup / mass errata. New Standard used a small base set (later Virtual Set 0) and new Virtual set numbering. Pre-Reset Virtual cards became the Legacy format. Virtual Set 9.2 was not released in its then-current form.

That announce is the page this era ends on: 2014 Virtual Card Pool Reset. Follow-up legal lists (Virtual Set 0 and Virtual Set 1 Preview) were posted 25 September 2014.

The 2014 World Championship (21–24 August 2014, Toronto) was the last championship circuit on the old Block pool.
