Deck info

Introduction

This is an idea that heard rumor someone tried out back in 2000. That was FOUR years ago, I know. I would have tried it in tourney play, but shields and stuff like that would instantaneously KILL the deck. So, with the disappearance of these shields in classic—I don’t know if anyone plays the Ultimatum or anti numbers shields any more, but I don’t think they’re common. This deck is designed to deal damage and hopefully remove lots of options from the opponent in that I can keep manipulating their hand. VERY annoying.

Defensive Shields

These cards were posted as Defensive Shields outside the deck.

Starting list also names Wampa, One Arm and A Useless Gesture, read as the 5 cards under Ineffective Maneuver (V) (outside the 60); only A Useless Gesture is a shield.

Notes

  • Starting (9) header but 12 listed: Wampa, One Arm and A Useless Gesture read as the outside-the-deck cards under Ineffective Maneuver (V) (Tauntaun Bones (V) deploys creatures from under the Starting Effect); the other 60 match the headers. Wampa and One-Arm not in the 60.
  • Ineffective Maneuver (V) (VS5) and Tauntaun Bones (V) (VS4) are listed as Light Side on their wiki pages but posted in this Dark deck; dested as posted.
  • Posted 'TLA' dested Twi'lek Advisor; 'Control/SFS' Control & Set For Stun; 'Hoth: DB' Hoth: Echo Docking Bay; 'Battle Order' (non-combo) the Endor Effect.
  • Original-era (V) slips: Ineffective Maneuver (VS5), Tauntaun Bones (VS4), Blizzard 2 (VS4), Image Of The Dark Lord (VS4). Imperial Decree unmarked, so printed.

Strategy

Wicked Weird Strategy:

The strat goes like this:

Turn One: Pull Executor Docking bay, Emperor to the DB, Pull Force Lightning. If you have Kuat, deploy it, but be cautious of grabbing the Executor, if you pull too early, you won’t be able to use Uncertain is The Future on opponent and your pull will be wasted. Play a numbers card if you can. Draw whatever you get.

Turn Two: Deploy DSII DB and find a character to put there if you have a Hutt Smooch. Use Force Lightning on the character to cycle it back into the deck. Draw up and get ready for the next big move.

Next Few turns: Deploy the Hoth DB and use the Wampa to get the Cave. Transit your characters down to the Hoth place. Put Blizzard 2 & Emperor at DB and one Wampa at the cave with M’Ioom or another character there. If they try to catch you, use your manipulators like Hutt Smooch, Wampa and Lots of hand manipulators like Fear and Defensive fire in combo with numbers to crush opponent’s hand. Use UITF to get rid of opponent’s hand—especially annoying if he used a “once per game” pull or a pull for a special card. Pull Battle order as you don’t force drain for anything (except maybe one measly force at Hoth)

Mid-Game: Set up Avenger and Executor at Big Ones. Fighters are for making more manageable stabs at the Big Ones so that you can leave big ships to roam if you need to. By sending your ships into the fields, your opponent HAS to draw destiny. The more destinies he draws, the more chances your number cards can make strikes. Keep ‘em coming. Your Fighters are maneuverable enough to survive many draws. You have the capability to kill even the Outrider with a Talon Roll (your total is 7 and his starts at 6). Dark Maneuvers can keep your ship alive. If you don’t see too many ships, put Avenger into the field wit h a Scythe TIE (battle destiny if need be) and opponent has to draw TWO destinies during your control phase.

Imperial Decree gets satisfied for when you hold both the Hoth sites. Keep it up. You have lots of defensive capabilities to avoid disaster and enough red cards t o put away his characters and prevent him from putting up card lays on your guys. By the time that he can make a strike, you have a Wampa (one character down), Palpatine can Force Lightning (if absolutely necessary), and you have Hutt Smooch, Set For Stun, and Blizzard 2 (6 more power).

Late Game: Your hits will be big, and your prevention from damage should be bigger than what’s coming at you. Cycle things back and keep manipulating his hand. Play your game and make him miserable. This deck is designed to PISS people off by cheap but high hits and frustrate them by canceling almost everything that comes at you. You will either win by a modest amount or lose by a lot—so far, I haven’t tried this deck out (I go to a military academy and no one plays) so I will keep you posted when I try it out.

As for match-ups I don’t have any advice other than playing the game your way because there is no way you can attack with this deck at all. You just have to kill your opponent’s actions. By the way, it’s pretty academic. You set up the things I highlighted and keep making opponent drawing destinies, losing cards from hand (ever ping ‘em for 12 force off of numbers and then fear ‘em for another while using Limited Resources for 4 more?—it’s possible!) and just keeping them away from their strategies.

If your opponent’s playing with ANY anti numbers (like Ultimatum, Your Insight Serves You Well, or Honor of The Jedi) then you’re dead. Just dead. “I hope you’re right Vader, I’m taking an awfully big risk…”

Card Choices

DS-181-3: Destiny 4 guy because I needed a pilot with destiny>3. He pulls Interceptor as well and is a good guy to stick on the Executor, Avenger, or Blizzard 2 (V)

M’Ioon Onith: Combined with the other methods of hand manipulation, she kills people. You are playing FORCE CHOKE and only give up ONE icon (Hoth: DB) so you should have enough force to kill opponent’s guys. Use in combo with Defensive Fire, Fear, Uncertain is Future, and any hand modifier for maximum results. Try to lower the opponent’s hand so you can use her text for cheap. Destiny 3 isn’t too bad.

Tech M’or: Destiny 6 character. The only other thing he can do is peek at one card after playing your Omni Box. Peek at the opponent’s reserve deck.

Big One: Place where you sit Avenger, Executor, or your TIEs so that they make opponent draw more destinies. Your capital ships are un-hittable.

Emperor: Pull him with BHBM and he’s a 6 with enough defenses to survive an assault. Pulls Force Lightning, which you constantly cycle to look at your deck.

No Escape: Anti Honor. Honor kills the deck, so No Escape takes care of that. Also used to get back something important or one of your numbers cards.

Bad Feeling Have I: Make ‘em pay for their cards.

Sense/Uncertain is Future: If opponent is drawing stuff, or you have a numbers card in their deck and want a chance to make them reveal it early (say make them lose to numbers TWICE in same turn by deploying it, using UITF and deploying another). VERY VERY ANNOYING!!! Besides, you’ve got Palpatine. Sense is a no-brainer.

Let me know what you guys think. Like I said, this deck can work. You just have to play it CLASSIC. SO DON’T TELL ME “WHAT ABOUT LSC?” OR ANYTHING. CLASSIC ONLY!
