No Such Thing As Luck is a constructed Star Wars CCG event format in which every second game is played with the opponent's deck. Decipher ran it as a non-sanctioned side event at DecipherCon 1999 for Star Wars CCG, Star Trek CCG and Young Jedi.[1]

  • Type: constructed
  • Defined by: Decipher (1999)
  • Card pool: the normal constructed pool
  • In use: 1999 (DecipherCon 1999)
  • GEMP: none

Card pool

Decipher's description: "Your first game is as paired and run as per normal for the game you are playing. Your second game though is against the same opponent you just played - except you use his (or her) deck! Your victory depends not only on how well you can play your opponent's deck, but also how well you can win with your own deck while still concealing it's true strengths!"[1]

  • First and third games are paired normally, with each player using their own deck.
  • Second and fourth games are against the previous opponent. Each player has 5 minutes to look through the opponent's deck, may not change it, plays it, and returns it counted at the end of the game.
  • At least 4 games (2 opponents), normal game time, standard rules and current rulings, free entry.
  • In the final confrontation finalists play only with their opponent's decks.[1]
