Iron Man is a constructed Star Wars CCG event format in which every card that is lost, placed out of play or discarded is physically destroyed, and each deck is played only once. Decipher ran it as a non-sanctioned side event at DecipherCon 1999.[1]

  • Type: constructed
  • Defined by: Decipher (1999)
  • Card pool: the normal constructed pool; four decks per player (2 Light Side, 2 Dark Side)
  • In use: 1999 (DecipherCon 1999)
  • Also called: Iron-Man Events (Decipher's event description)
  • GEMP: none

Card pool

Decipher's description: "This constructed deck format for Star Wars and Star Trek adds new meaning to the word 'lost'. Whenever a card is lost, placed out of play or discarded, you must physically destroy it! Tear it in half, screw it into a ball, eat it - whatever! Just know that you won't be using it again!"[1]

  • Each Star Wars player brings four decks (2 Light Side, 2 Dark Side); the decks may all differ, and each is played only once.
  • Standard tournament rules and current rulings apply, except that destroyed cards "may not be reused, retrieved, taken back from that pile etc."
  • Four games for Star Wars, normal constructed pairing, standard game time, no final confrontation, free entry.[1]

History

An early DecipherCon 1999 schedule put a Star Wars "Iron Man" Constructed Deck tournament on Thursday 11 November, 1–5 p.m.[2] The later schedule lists Iron Man (SW.11) on Friday 12 November, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., and Sunday 14 November, 8 a.m.–1 p.m.[3][4] Results are on DecipherCon 1999 Iron Man and DecipherCon 1999 SW Iron Man.

At DecipherCon 2000 Decipher used the same destroy rule for a sealed-deck event, Easy Come, Easy Go Sealed Deck.[5]
