The Gauntlet: Dual Formats is a Star Wars CCG event format that starts as a constructed tournament and finishes with a sealed-deck event for the top eight. Decipher ran it as a sanctioned side event at DecipherCon 1999 for Star Wars CCG, Star Trek CCG and Young Jedi.[1]

  • Type: constructed, then sealed deck
  • Defined by: Decipher (1999)
  • Card pool: the normal constructed pool; then one Official Tournament Sealed Deck per finalist
  • In use: 1999 (DecipherCon 1999)
  • Also called: The Gauntlet Dual Format (Decipher's score sheet title on DecipherCon 1999 Gauntlet)
  • GEMP: none

Card pool

Decipher's description: "All players bring standard constructed decks and compete as normal in a 4 game constructed tournament. At the end of those four rounds, the top 8 players progress into a special 3 game sealed deck event where they try to prove that it's player skill that makes them great, not just good decks!"[1]

  • Players bring standard constructed decks.
  • Four constructed games with normal pairing and standard rules.
  • The top 8 then play a 3-game sealed-deck final; "The Sealed Deck Format will be OTSD of 3 games duration", that is, the Enhanced Format Sealed Deck with the Official Tournament Sealed Deck.
  • It was sanctioned: constructed games counted toward constructed ratings and the top 8's sealed games toward sealed ratings. Free entry.[1]
