Here’s the dark deck that I’ve been playin for that last 2 or 3 weeks. It may look like a piece of sh!t, but it’s only lost one game in a tournament so far and it’s all but undefeated in pickup games. this deck plays like a rops that does 3 points of direct damage on the first turn, before the opponent even activates. You’re opening hand will almost always contain a watto and another character that will deploy for 5 or less. the first turn usually goes like this, deploy watto for free to the junkyard, deploy somebody else or a walker and pilot combo to mos espa, go look for the dbay, go get the chance cube, throw away ychf for sad, make the LS lose two by putting the chance cube in your used pile, make the LS lose one for sad, draw your last few cards then activate one on their turn with wipe them out. dont ever, EVER, play the chance cube to draw extra destiny unless you’ve got an even number stacked, or watto is alone and about to get shafted. after you do your first turn there are only 13 even destiny’s left in the deck, out of 50 cards, that’s not a good risk to take, even for watto.

the destiny’s breakdown like this (after the usual first turn)

0 x2, 1 x9, 2 x5, 3 x15, 4 x7, 5 x10, 6 x1.

Here’s some general matchups:

Saber Combat: Combat isn’t the most popular deck in my area so i really limited experience against different varieties of the deck. When playing against combat, it might not be worht it to pull sad on the first turn, they’re gonna get a jedi out on turn one almost every time so you might as well keep ychf on the table. If you think about it, combat will only be able to do 4 pts of damage a turn that you will have to deal with. as long as you can stay ahead of that, you should be fine. try and get the tatooine system asap, cuz they will probably have a very limited space package, and get occupation in effect as well. this will probably be one of the only decks where you would pull your battle order shield on. i wouldnt suggest battling them on naboo unless you’ve got some destiny’s stacked and you know maul will hit somebody and do some breakthrough damage. they probably wont come to you with jedi so you’re reacting walkers will be able to handle just about any series of non-jedi coming to tatooine. this is a very winable game.

Hidden Base: I’m not the kind of player to say that a deck will always auto win over another, but you’ll find that this deck will have a hard time losing to hidden base. Definitely do the SAD thing on the first turn. If they’re playing with virtual luke, it would probably be a good idea to grab the all wings combo. dont worry about getting the tatooine system right away, unless you can throw all your ships there. unless the LS drew all their systems in their opening hand, you’ll proabably do more damage than they can handle before they flip.

WYS: this deck is the toughest deck to play against for any dark deck. Start his name is anakin instead of ychf. they probably wont deploy kessel just to keep your activation down. neither one of you will be doing to much activating for the entire game so play smart. trample is going to be huge for you, DONT LET THEM GRIMTAASH YOU FOR BOTH TRAMPLES, that would be bad. make sure you stay on the seven side at all costs, all non unique aliens are deploy +3 on the seven side, +1 for HNIA (or +2, or sometimes +4). in theory, a palace raider would cost the LS 9 force to deploy to a dark jedi’s site on tatooine. did i mention that walkers plus trample is good against wys. talon karrde only adds to the smugglers defense value, not ability, so all those ability 2 smugglers should get trampled. projective telepathy will be a lifesaver in this game since all their aliens are deploy plus 1. this game is a tossup, it could go either way, WYS is probably going to be the toughest LS deck out there for a long, long time.

Boomrace, QMC, and Senate: luckily for me, nobody plays these decks by me. but here’s what i think would happen anyway. first off if these decks are big by you, you may want to exchange some of the cards in the deck for Abyss and barquin dan. All of these LS decks run double of just about every card so barquin dan + abyss will be HUGE!!! and you only have to worry about hitting the occasional watto. i try not to think about boomrace because that’s probably one of THE worst matchups for this deck. unless they topdeck the bunker or back door on the first turn or two, you will probably have a hard time beating them. maybe getting palpy and sidious to the bunker would give you enough time to do some big damage with watto but i dunno it’s a tough call. vs qmc, it will probably be a drain race, dont goto cloud city unless you have the sense for the path, and even then; be careful. cancel their celebration with the mm combo and hope that they freak out from the 3 damage on the first turn. qmc takes a little while to get goin and unless you’re playin against a real master with the deck you should have no problems. if senate is big, you definitely have to go with the abyss tech, they’ll be flipping queen amidala’s like nobody’s business and if you’ve go abyss out you;ll win everytime.

why no No Escape to screw hotjedi??? uh, if you’re not occupying 3 battlegrounds with this deck you wont win even if no escape is on the table.

so give me some good reviews, this deck is huge and a lot of fun to play. give it a try, and if you think of giving me low stars cuz you dont understand something, just I.M. me first and i’ll help you out.

aim: ltkettch17

props to eric oslon and steve kuperman, and anybody in IL that i’ve played with this deck.
