FreedomCon

FreedomCon was a charity gaming convention run by DeckTech on 15–18 November 2001 at the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia.[1] DeckTech ran it after Decipher cancelled DecipherCon 2001, scheduled for the same dates and hotel.[2][3] It ran World Championship events for Star Wars, Star Trek, Young Jedi and Jedi Knights.[4] The Star Wars CCG event is the 2001 Decipher World Championship.

Entry was $30 pre-registered or $35 at the door. 160 people attended. The championships raised $1,343 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.[1] Other winners were Brian Muller (Jedi Knights), Katie Billings (Young Jedi) and Ian Vincent (Star Trek).[1]

DeckTech held FreedomCon Philadelphia 2002 (FreedomCon II) on 4–6 October 2002 at NeoQuest Games in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.[9][10] "Mighty" Mike Carr organized it. The charity was the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.[10]
The 2002 World Championship was at DecipherCon 2002, Chesapeake Conference Center, Virginia Beach, 1–3 November 2002.[11][12]
