Introduction[edit]
This is my second attempt at a Hunt Down deck. It’s had pretty decent success in casual play, and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for it. I’m also looking for suggestions for my Light Side LSC deck that is somewhat similar to this deck, so please check it out, too. Thanks.
The published list has 59 cards.
Decklist[edit]
Strategy[edit]
The strategy is just like most other Hunt Down decks you’ve probably seen. Start podracing on the first turn. Unless your opponent is also playing podracing, you shouldn’t have any trouble winning. Unless my opponent has given me a battleground, I usually like to grab Endor: Landing Platform first turn to give Vader somewhere to hang out. Get Vader out as soon as possible, and let him take care of Luke, Obi-Wan, etc. Maul can usually handle Qui-Gon or any other Jedi your opponent might be packing. Send the rest of the characters around as support wherever they might be needed. You can also usually establish a drain at the Imperial Holotable using The Phantom Menace. The average destiny is fairly high, especially after you fish out the zeros, so you should have an advantage over a lot of decks in combat, duels, and podracing.
I realize I don’t have any space. I’ve also never gone up against a really good LSC deck, and I don’t know how this deck would perform against that. Any suggestions on how to deal with these problems (or any other major weaknesses you see) would be greatly appreciated.
Card choice:
Imperial Arrest Order & Secret Plans: I need to make sure I can get a battleground site for Vader right away. Also, I usually find that little extra Force each turn extremely helpful.
Aurra Sing: Good all-around support character that can use opponent’s lightsabers against them.
Boba Fett, Bounty Hunter: Great complement to Vader. Destiny of 3 for a character isn’t bad, either.
Darth Maul: If you can get out They Will Be No Match For You, he is the best way to take care of extraneous Jedi.
Darth Maul, Young Apprentice: The weapon destiny bonuses he gets against Jedi makes him another good way to take care of Jedi.
Darth Vader: You can’t hunt Jedi without Vader.
Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith: With the high destiny, I usually have pretty good luck choking people.
Dr. Evazan & Ponda Baba: With the high weapon destiny you usually draw, there are plenty of people for the doc to operate on.
Emperor Palpatine: Can’t argue with a destiny of 6 on a character.
4-LOM with Concussion Rifle: The ability to cancel game text automatically has saved me more times than I can remember. Also has a decent destiny of 3 for a character.
Grand Moff Tarkin: The original and still the best helper for Vader.
Janus Greejatus: Great with the Emperor. Also good to track destiny.
Mara Jade, The Emperor’s Hand: All around good character that searches for her weapon. Can also duel Luke in a pinch.
Sim Aloo: Also great with the Emperor.
U-3PO: Still the best Dark Side spy.
Disarmed: High destiny and useful ability.
No Escape: Few things hurt this deck more than Honor of the Jedi.
The Phantom Menace: Good to either help Maul or drain at the Holotable. Also a destiny of 7.
Reactor Terminal: Recycle those high destinies.
They Will Be No Match For You: Essential if you want Maul to duel Jedi.
Deep Hatred: When you just have to make sure you win the duel.
Dark Rage: Use it to fish out Deep Hatred. Also a 5 destiny.
Force Lightning: Used interrupt with a destiny of 5. Also insures you’ll hit most anybody.
Imperial Barrier: Still probably the best Dark Side escape hatch.
Masterful Move: Use it to fish out your Holotable or The Phantom Menace.
Maul Strikes: A 5 destiny with 3 great abilities. I usually use it to get lightsabers.
Podracer Collision: In case you need some help with the podrace. Also has a good used ability and a destiny of 5.
The Circle is Now Complete: Essential to almost any Hunt Down deck.
Twi’lek Advisor: Another used destiny of 5 with a good ability.
Vader’s Obsession: Like The Circle is Now Complete, essential to almost every deck like this.
Death Star II: Docking Bay: A good location that you can search for and almost never have to worry about defending.
Endor: Landing Platform: Another good location you can pull. As I said before, I usually put Vader here. Also a good hiding spot later in the game because it is difficult for the opponent to chase you here after they’ve deployed elsewhere.
Imperial Holotable: 2 Force that you rarely have to worry about defending. It is also an easy drain of 1 for you since the opponent usually isn’t prepared to defend it.
Aurra Sing’s Blaster Rifle: Absolutely deadly against Jedi. Destiny of 7 is great, too.
Maul’s Double-Bladed Lightsaber: Maul’s weapon of choice.
Maul’s Lightsaber: I realize the other version is probably superior, but late game when Force is getting low I’ve sometimes needed the drain bonus without having to lose 1.
Mara Jade’s Lightsaber: Great since Mara can search for it.
Vader’s Lightsaber: Essential for Vader to have his weapon.
I don’t own all of them, but these are the cards I have considered adding to the deck:
Darth Sidious Lord Vader Blaster Rack (V) (maybe start with this instead of IAO & Secret Plans) Enter The Bureaucrat Visage of the Emperor (second copy) Watto’s Box (maybe start with this instead of IAO & Secret Plans) Blow Parried Focused Attack I Have You Now The Ebb of Battle Blizzard 4 Maul’s Sith Infiltrator Darth Vader’s Lightsaber
If you think any of these cards would be a good idea, then what do you think I should take out? Also, in light of the new podracing shields that just came out in Virtual Set #3, I was considering taking out the podracing and instead starting with Prepared Defenses (probably using it to get IAO & Secret Plans, Blaster Rack (V), and They Will Be No Match For You). What do you think? I appreciate any suggestions or criticisms you might have. Also, please check out my Light Side LSC deck. Thanks.
