- Description: LS Senate that went 4-0 at Origins. Not exactly new, but still a solid choice.
Strategy
Your basic Light Senate, with a bit of V5 in there for Combat hate. And I forgot to write (v) beside Special Modifications.
Starting out, set up in the Senate ASAP. I very rarely NOT flip first turn. Wokling adds to the activation, and most DS decks give you lots of force nowadays, so play a Might first turn before they get a grabber out to grab either Horoxx or Palpy, depending on who you didn't get in your starting hand. From there, react to what they do and stop it. Notice this is under "advanced" decks so I'm not going to bother with a massive strategy section, I'll just cover a few card choices and deck match-ups.
Four Queens? Yes, four Queens. She's a key card in this deck, because you are drawing multiple destinies a lot. HCF in Space, or Spiral or Home One with Lando on it in space, Lando on the ground with anybody, EPP Qui against Maul. (When are you NOT going to see Maul?) Might lets you get your Senators for your second destiny, but 4 Queens make it possible to add three to EACH destiny consistently.
Home One? Yeah, Home One. You activate enough easily. Not readily expected, and immune to cannons.
Special Mods? Screw A Few Manuvers. There's no On The Edge's in this to make them worthwhile. This guarantees HCF is safe from Cannons, and is easily pullable with 2 WWTBAO's in the deck.
Uncontrollable Fury: This card wins games. Period. Quite possibly the most dangerous card in the deck. With Palpy at the Senate for your "ability >3 character", this card can cause consistent hurt.
Honor Of The Jedi: Still a good card, and helps against Walkers and There Is No Try. Tikkes won't be around to suspend it.
Bacta Tank: C'mon now, this is Senate. This is what lets you win against Dark Senate. Dig Yoda out quick, use his text to grab a Sense to stop the Shut Him Up Or Shut Him Down (and grab it).
Wars Not Make One Great (v)? Dark Combat's still out there. I played one at Origins. Play this, pull out Inner Strength, and stack your Jedi Resiliences and 5-destiny cards for Combat. No, you may not always win because the Combat will have 7's, but what's important is that your EPP doesn't lose the combat by more than four, so you can add beats with other characters on your turn.
Revolution: They starting a twix in Dark Senate? Hunt Down with no Crush start? Grab this with WWTBAO and make them wince.
Tauntaun Bones: I hate Watto. I reeeeeally fockin' hate Watto.
It Could Be Worse: Helps against Walkers (if you get it in time...), just make sure you have a Sense for the possible It's Worse.
Bith Shuffle/Desperate Reach: Huge. Stops the Barriers, and screws up their tracking when they set up a 6 or 7. I did both of these things at Origins, multiple times.
Ounee Ta? This was the 60th card. Took a tip from Andy McClure and threw it in. Just lost a critical card off the top to a force drain? Play this on your turn and get it back. Cancel the other drain with a Senator, and then on your turn play this to get that card back. I used it one game to get back the add 3 Political Effect I top-decked, and then in another to get back HCF for another beat-down against the Tie deck. Very handy.
Deck match-ups:
Watto: Tauntaun Bones. Chomp. Swing. Bye Watto.
Hunt Down: Tricky, especially against the new Conduct Your Search version. Tunnel for Corran when he's in your pile, cancel Visage and back him up. Recurring EPP's with Resilience and Bacta Tank to keep him from building up at the Back Door.
Deal: Start DDTA to stop the quick Executor. If Deal hits, no problem. Deploy Obi and/or Luke and/or Qui-Gon with Amidala (most likely you should have HCF or Home One at the City or at Bespin) to cancel it. Guri is a , yes, but they have to get her out first, and she doesn't always come out that quick. A quick attack with a HCF and Life Debt will take down that Executor.
Walkers: Honor, and consistent EPP attacks. Keep adding three, you'll get around that immunity easily and take out their forces. If you're lucky, you'll get ICBW quick to stop the loss of 8 force when they blow the MPG.
Decks this Senate beat at Origins: Deal, Combat, Hunt Down, and SFS Ties. V-set 5 had a lot of hate for Dark Senate, but Light remains safe. Use this to your advantage. Props again to Eric Hunter for making Wokling, which makes this deck the machine it is.
