The Quick Day 3 HBX Second Turn Flip is a Light constructed list published on Game Players Network.

Deck info

Introduction

This is my light deck that helped me win the first two days of worlds this year by going undefeated (6-0). Please remember that worlds was 3 months ago and not to consider any cards out of the latest (v) set when rating.

The published list has 64 cards.

Defensive Shields

These cards were posted as Defensive Shields outside the deck.

Six Defensive Shields are named under AUAOF and dested outside the deck: Aim High, A Tragedy Has Occurred, Battle Plan, Don't Do That Again, Do, Or Do Not, Ultimatum.

Notes

  • Original-era (V): Maneuvering Flaps (V), Commander Luke Skywalker (V) (Virtual Set 4); Rebel Planners (V), Imperial Atrocity (V), Bright Hope (V) (Virtual Set 6).
  • Qty 64 as published: the four systems listed under AUAOF (Endor, Kashyyyk, Kessel, Kirdo III; the strategy's 'x4 systems under your starting effect') are not in the 'Starting-8' count; the headers add to 60 without them. Drop them if they start outside the deck.
  • Kirdo III appears twice (under AUAOF and as the Hidden Base indicator); Kashyyyk appears twice (under AUAOF and in Locations). Dested as posted.

Strategy

This is the deck that went undefeated in the first two days of worlds this year going 6-0 on both days combined.

It's only loss of GenCon was to the world champion on Day 3.

This deck is solid.

Some card choices:

x4 systems under your starting effect along with x5 in your reserve?

Yes, this is what gives you the potential to flip second turn. All you have to do is draw a system in your opening hand or activate one during your first turn, then draw up for it and you will have the option of flipping second turn unless you get really lucky and draw three systems in your opening hand then you can flip first turn. If you don't get a system in your hand turn 1 don't worry you will probobly flip on turn 3.

Before you flip and spread out make sure you have a speeder with matching pilot down at the Desert with Sandwhirl going as well as an evasion card so you don't get beatdown in space (Houjix & Out Of Nowhere, Hyper Escape or Rebel Barrier). Once you have that accomplished you will not have much left to do other than drain them out and an occasional counter attack.

Manuevering Flaps (v)?

This is how you hold a site with Hidden Base nowadays so you don't have to pay to drain. You simply put down a speeder with matching pilot at the Desert with sandwhirl and then you are ready to spread out fast. It's a harder location to beatdown at then the forest because only walkers can go there and the Desert is pullable with Kirdo III also. If they control the Sandwhirl you can Tibrin for it back.

Rebel Planners (v)?

This card is of course what lets you pull an extra system every turn as well as making Hidden Base a lot quicker.

Corran Horn?

This is in here just in case you go up against a deck like walkers that puts Tatooine Maul in space with his ship. If he weren't in here you would never be able to kill their ship without putting your speeder pilots in space. He's also great against Huntdown.

Dash Rendar (v)?

His speeder of choice in this deck is Rogue 4. But he can pilot any speeder if you're having a tough time getting going or if you need an extra pilot somewhere, great character for the deck.

Honor Of The Jedi?

This card is money! It is great against a good number of match-ups and is pullable so it's worth including it.

Imperial Artocity (v) x2?

Oh yeah! You can pull one of them with the Don't do that again shield and this card is great against Match-ups like Walkers and FWKTIL. It's also destiny of six.

It could Be worse x1?

Yes, but be careful! If they have a ton of force saved you may be asking for it if you play it. Sense can also suck, but we all know how useful the card can be so you need at least one in the deck.

Organized Attack x3?

Some players may tell you that you only need 2 in this deck but that just isn't the best. You need to have a ship at each of you big drain systems after you flip so playing three is the way to go.

Power Pivot?

It's funny going up against CCT and watching them see their Executor turn into a 0 power ship.

Han, Chewie And The Falcon x1?

Yep. With all that CCT going around out there the best number to play is 1.

X-wing Lasser Cannon x2?

Gets the Power Pivot to work and is really dumb not to play with in HBX.

Ok this deck is pretty much played the same against every deck but I will give you the match-ups I played against anyway.

Match-ups:

Walkers-This is the deck that your play should vary the most. you do not want to put a speeder and his pilot down to the Desert untill mid/late game. You will want to pay to drain early on but this is a suprisingly easy match-up because I beat it multiple times fairly easily.

SYCFA/FWKTIL-There are a few things you can try against this deck. Probobly you best option is to play a ship or two and then wait for them to come and beat you down then play Houjix. After that you spread out and drain since they also give you the Death Star. With Imperial Atrocity (v) and your bigger ships like HCF to do some counter beats this is not that tough to beat.

CCT-You can cancel their Despair drain because of Rebel Planners (v) and you can beatdown the Executor with Power Pivot and some ships so do what you gotta do.

Huntdown- It's better to wait untill Vader is at a site before you deploy Luke in his speeder to the Desert. That way your opponent will have a tougher time playing the Dark Jedi + Blizzard 4 + I Have You Now combo on you. Just try to get out Honor and make them lose to their own Visage while you don't. If they play No Escape cancel Visage with Corran. Spread out as fast as you possibly can and drain them out before they can do too much damage to you.

Senate-Well if your're playing against Senate then you might want to pick out your own Stategy because out of the seven games I played with the deck this is the only one I lost but it was to the world champion.

I played against (Walkers x2, CCT x2, Huntdown x1, FWKTIL x1) all of which this deck beat on days 1 and 2.

You can probobly figure out the rest on your own so that's it.

Good luck-Nick

Response to reviews:

Cam Solusar - Thanks for the score. Believe it or not Strike Planning is mandatory in the deck and it doesn't have room for any General's. If you see a couple of cards you don't need you can put in a couple general's like Rieekan. If you add in Rieekan, you're going to want the Hoth War Room and Incom Corparaction in there also since he can pull them. Rapid Fire I of course considered but Power Pivot is more important and if you think anything should be added you need to say what should be taken out so I can explain why that's not the best idea. Thanks.

thehooky - Thanks for the review, hopefully I will see you around =)

But I will not be traveling to any event anytime soon so we'll see =(

sithborg - Another example of why it's not worth playing with general's unless your area is heavy space and calls for Rieekan.

I actually did know that, or else I would have done it by now in a different deck and I actually feel silly for saying that in a review since I remember a few years ago as a TD when I had to tell a player he couldn't do this exact play =(. At least my deck isn't built to try and do any of that stuff or I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be getting these scores, lol.

Greg Shaw had it in one of his TIGIH strategy sections recently on DT so I forgot what the card can and can't do thanks to him.

Thanks for the review.
