Strategy
Well, this is my first attempt at the HD decktype. In one tournament afternoon, I already learned a lot about how to run this deck more effectively.
First off, Visage is your friend and your curse. If it gets canceled, you may want to not redeploy it, depending on the game situation.
Onto the deck! First off, up your activation by pulling Carida with YCHF. I typically like going for solid play, so if I am able I may ditch that effect to get Combat Response (assuming I didn’t start it). If you are frozen by DDTA, don’t worry too much. You can get presence at a system pretty easily otherwise through your 4 ships.
Pull a DB and either drop down Vader or B4 to pull Vader to flip. The DBs are chosen since the BFDB is a great trap location and the DSDB since you can use Put All Sections there. Never forget to enforce Visage damage when you are flipped… if you forget on the 0 side, it’s not as bad.
From there you can play it by ear. You can set up Firepower (V) quite nicely, which is huge for making Vader more than just a card on the table. You also can set up S & D pretty easily, which is good for more direct damage and great versus a space heavy deck.
This deck has very nice destiny (see below). Use it with the Fish to maximize damage or make some shots with Dengar or P-59 easier. Some nifty high destiny cards are Put All Sections, which blanks Rebels at a D* site, and This is Some Rescue, which cancels OOC and the pesky space evasion favorite Alternatives to Fighting.
There are some v6 cards in here that are a bit unusual but work with this decktype. The Emperor’s Prize deploys on Vader if Luke is on the table but not with him and pings the LS. This is great for playing vs Speeders, where Luke will be at a battleground in most cases but not out in the open.
Thanks for reading and reviewing!
