Posted under Fear Is My Ally: Homing Beacon, Leave Them To Me, Deflector Shield Generators (V) x2, A Useless Gesture, Resistance, Battle Order, Secret Plans, Allegations of Corruption, Reactor Terminal (V). Homing Beacon and Deflector Shield Generators (V) are Devices, not shields; they are left out of the shields list and the 60.
Notes
- Total 60 without the cards under Fear Is My Ally. The Locations header says 9 but lists 10 (including Death Star: Conference Room).
- Secret Plans posted under Fear Is My Ally is the Reflections III shield here (not the Special Edition Effect); Oppressive Enforcement under Prepared Defenses is the Special Edition Effect.
- Original-era (V): Darth Vader (V) (Virtual Set 1); Admiral Motti (V), Fear Will Keep Them In Line (V) and Imperial-Class Star Destroyer (V) x5 (Virtual Set 2); Reactor Terminal (V) (Virtual Set 3, shield); Imperial Domination (V) (Virtual Set 4; the draft had dropped the V); Levitation Attack (V) (Virtual Set 6).
- The draft had dropped the Flagship effect and counted the FIMA list in the deck. Posted 'Chimera' dested Chimaera; 'Kashyyk' Kashyyyk.
Strategy
Blow away Alderaan, if possible and/or get Fear Will Keep Them In Line out fast. As long as you can get one of these, you're fine. Both is better. Use Twi'lek Advisor to get FWKTIL ASAP.
With Both:
After Alderaan is blown away, move the Death Star to parsec 4. This puts all systems within 2 parsecs of the Death Star. Put Admiral Chiraneau on a Star Destroyer at the Death Star. 2 Force lost per system with a Star Destroyer (FWKTIL) AND Force Drain +3 there. Use the non-unique Imp Stars to hold non-contested areas, since they can draw one destiny if those areas suddenly become contested and 9 forfeit is usually enough to prevent massive life force lost. 3-4 Unique Star Destroyers to make "Battle Fleets" to take out pretty much anything contested.
Although there is plenty of power to burn here, and they generally get no more than two destinies (Imperial Domination (V)), this is mostly a run-away deck. Unless they're draining you big somewhere, the 5+ loss per location per turn is usually a better payoff than battling, plus low likelyhood of losing a ship. If you do lose something, another Star Destroyer and/or ID should get it back easily enough.
Deploy Battle Plan without worry, as your force generation is huge, and slowing down opponents force drains is worth the cost. There isn't really enough ground to hold even one site, so don't try unless a huge opportunity presents itself.
A nice thing about this deck is the only thing it really needs-the Death Star-is out at the start. I'd do something to protect against Attack Run/MBO, but I can set up fast enough that I really think it would be wasted space. Their force loss after the first few turns should throw the deck into disarray.
Gameplay if Alderaan not blown away OR FWKTIL not out is pretty much the same. If NEITHER is working, it becomes a Star Destroyer fleet, spread out and use lesser drains or bunch up and smash in battle.
This is, obviously, a fleet, fleet, fleet deck. It can pretty much ignore those who choose the Rebel Army, and beat up on any Rebel Fleet. It's a deck I've wanted to make work since I started playing in 1997. Now, 7 years later, I finally got things gelling properly. My own personal 18 Star Destroyer Fleet? Wow. :) This deck can literally Star Destroyer swarm.
Card choices:
Homing beacon - don't have any useful Defensive Sheilds to fill that slot. Could be fun. Free movement, free react.
Levitation Attack (V) - get some fun but not essential devices out of my life force.
Twi'Lek Advisor - Get out FWKTIL and Presence of the Force, then recylable 5 desttiny.
The systems - Chosen to be within 2 parsecs of the Death Star, and I put Admiral C. at the Death Star, so everything is centered there once the Death Star gets to the 4.
Presence Of The Force - Make the Death Star a battleground for Admiral C., and to allow force generation there against TPCGALR.
I think everything else should be obvious.
Two disclaimers since my brothers populate this site, too:
The WYS deck I beat had a horrid opening hand, and bad draws for the first few turns. I still think I would have won, but you never know.
I lost to a weird Tatooine deck, by 3 force, because I lost the Superlaser very early.
