Richard Borg (born 1948) is a game designer.[1] Tom Braunlich and Rollie Tesh planned Decipher's Star Wars Customizable Card Game at his house in Florida.[2] The Premiere Two-Player Introductory Game rules booklet thanks him "for rogue design in an elegant system."[3] Dragon #230 credited him among the Star Wars Customizable Card Game designers.[4]

SWCCG planning

Braunlich and Tesh went to Borg's Florida house after the Star Trek CCG launch, before the Star Wars license was signed.[2] Braunlich called Borg a friend and a game designer.[2] They talked through how the game should play and whether it could hold the Star Wars universe.[2] They returned with a general plan for the design.[2] Braunlich's idea of using the draw deck as the player's Force came out of that planning.[2][5]

Later games

Borg was born in Connecticut in 1948.[1] He founded Action Designs in 1987.[6] His games include Bluff, Battle Cry, Memoir '44, and the Commands & Colors series.[1][6] He entered the Charles S. Roberts Awards Hall of Fame in 2010.[1] In 2025 he designed Star Wars: Battle of Hoth.[1]
