GEMP draft and cube products

GEMP draft and cube products are the card pools that GEMP uses for its draft formats and its Watto's Cube sealed league types. GEMP lists four current draft definitions and three legacy ones.[1] For the sealed league products, including the Watto's Cube packs, see GEMP sealed league products.

How draft picks work

Each draft definition names a format code, a starting pool of fixed cards, and a list of choices for each side. Each definition sets 54 picks per side.[2][3][4][5] In all four definitions the Light Side choices come before the Dark Side choices.[2][3][4][5]

In a normal pick (cubePackPick), GEMP shuffles that side's list of available cards and offers a number of them. The number offered is the pack size minus the pick number modulo the pack size. Every definition uses a pack size of 9, so the offers run 9, 8, 7 and so on down to 1, then start again at 9. Over 54 picks this repeats six times. A card that is already in the player's pool is not offered again. If the picked card has add-on cards listed, the player gets those cards with it.[6][2]

In an objective pick (cubePackObjPick), each choice is a whole objective pack, shown by its first card. With a pack size of 2, the first objective pick offers two packs and the second offers one. The player gets every card in the chosen pack.[6][5]

Drafts

Format Code Fixed cards Objective picks per side Cards available to pick (Light / Dark) Picks per side
Premiere - Death Star II Draft basic_premds2_draft 26 (13 per side) 0 360 / 360 54[2]
Premiere - Virtual Set 13 Draft basic_premv13_draft 20 (10 per side) 0 290 / 290 54[3]
Premiere - Virtual Set 25 Draft holocron_premv25_draft 201 (99 Light Side, 102 Dark Side) 0 300 / 300 54[4]
Cube v7 + Objectives Draft c7obj_draft 0 2, from 15 objective packs per side 262 / 259 54[5]

In the Virtual Set 25 draft, 27 Light Side and 29 Dark Side cards in the pick lists have add-on cards. They bring 28 Light Side and 30 Dark Side add-on cards in all.[4] In the Cube v7 + Objectives draft, the objective packs have 8 to 25 cards each.[5]

The draft list also keeps three entries marked legacy: c7_draft, c7revised_draft and cube_worlds_2025_draft.[1]

Deck size

Each of the four draft definitions names its own format code. In the format list each of these formats, like Cube and the two Watto's Cube formats, sets a deck size of 40 cards.[2][7]

Watto's Cube packs

The Watto's Cube sealed league types use three pack types:[8][9][10]

  • Watto's Cube Draft Pack: 9 random cards from a 290-card list for one side.[8]
  • Watto's Cube Fixed Pack: a fixed set of 10 cards for one side.[9]
  • Watto's Cube Objective Pack: one objective or other archetype card, chosen at random from 15 for one side, with the related cards the code lists for it.[10]

The number of each pack in each series is listed at GEMP sealed league products.

Differences from the Players Committee GEMP

The draft files in the Players Committee repository at commit 5e26dd19 have the same starting pools and choices as this code. The only difference in each file is the format code:[11][12][13][14]

  • Format code: each Players Committee draft file names the format cube. Each file in this code names its own format (basic_premds2_draft, basic_premv13_draft, holocron_premv25_draft, c7obj_draft).[2][3][4][5]
  • Deck size: the Players Committee format list sets the cube format to 45 cards and has no separate draft formats. This code sets Cube, the two Watto's Cube formats and the four draft formats to 40 cards.[15][7]
