Episode I Sealed is a sealed league format on GEMP built from Episode I cards of the Tatooine, Coruscant and Theed Palace expansions. Its format definition uses the same set list as Open.[1][2][3] GEMP's sealed league type Episode I Sealed uses this format.[4]

  • Type: sealed deck (GEMP sealed league)
  • Defined by: play.swccg.com format; league type from the Players Committee GEMP
  • Card pool: Episode I cards from Tatooine, Coruscant and Theed Palace boosters plus 31 fixed cards, 40-card decks
  • In use: unknown
  • GEMP: Episode I Sealed (episode_i_sealed) on play.swccg.com; on the Players Committee GEMP the league type Episode I Sealed is played under the generic Sealed format[5]

Card pool

Players build decks from the product their sealed league gives them. A league has two series; a player who joins gets the product of every series that has started, and every player gets each later series' product when it starts.[6][7]

On play.swccg.com the league issues:[7]

  • Series 1: 5 Tatooine Booster Packs (Episode I only), 5 Coruscant Booster Packs (Episode I only) and 5 Theed Palace Booster Packs, plus 31 fixed cards. The Dark Side gets Lord Maul, Blockade Flagship, 2 Trade Federation Battleship, Nute Gunray, Neimoidian Viceroy, Aurra Sing, Grotto Werribee, Battle Droid Officer, Security Battle Droid, Neimoidian Advisor, Mind Tricks Don't Work On Me and five locations; the Light Side gets Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Knight, Queen's Royal Starship, 2 Republic Cruiser, Queen Amidala, Phylo Gandish, Gungan General, Gungan Warrior, Mindful Of The Future, We're Leaving and five locations. The locations on each side are Tatooine: Mos Espa, Tatooine, Naboo, Naboo: Theed Palace Courtyard and Coruscant: Galactic Senate.[7][8]
  • Series 2: 3 of each of the three booster packs.[7]

The Tatooine and Coruscant packs here are limited to cards with the Episode I icon; the Tatooine pack also leaves out Podracer-icon cards and Boonta Eve Podrace.[9][10] The full contents of each product are listed at GEMP sealed league products.

The format definition uses the same set list as Open, so the product limits the pool. It sets a deck size of 40 cards and marks the format as not a game hall format, so it is played through its league rather than at open tables.[1][2][3]

Special rule

The GEMP format definitions list this special rule:[1][11]

  • Once per game, a player may ▼ a unique battleground not already on table.

History

The league type comes from the Players Committee GEMP code, which plays it under the generic Sealed format; play.swccg.com gave it its own format with the same name.[5][12][1]

An Episode I Sealed event was on the Players Committee's schedule at DecipherCon 2002, alongside the Episode I ONLY constructed event.[13] No source links the GEMP league to it, and no league result in this format is recorded.

Tournaments

No tournament on List of SWCCG tournaments is recorded in this format yet. Events are added here when their page gives this format.
