Introduction

I FINALLY got this deck together. (I've been working on it since December) Thank you, tyranus, for all of the help. Oh, and it's built for classic format.

The published list has 63 cards.

Strategy

Strategy:

My deck is pretty much by-the-book as far as MWYHL goes, but I’ll go through the training process anyways.

Turn 1:

\/ Dagobah: Training Area, Son of Skywalker (V), Yoda, Yoda’s Hope, Luke’s Backpack, Great Warrior and Wise Advice, and, if the opponent gave you two force from their starting location, Yoda’s Gimer Stick. If the opponent is playing BHBM, start Daughter of Skywalker instead.

Turn 2:

If you were able to set up everything on turn one, attempt test #1, otherwise \/ everything you still need. After you complete the test (remembering to retrieve, or course), \/ the Gimer Stick on Yoda for the two-force function. Then \/ Dagobah: Jungle, and, if possible, Dagobah: Bog Clearing/Swamp to the opposite side of the Training Area. Deploy Test #2 on the Jungle, see if your opponent wants to move the test at the start of your move phase (he/she will probably decide not to), and then move your apprentice (with the mentor in the backpack of course) to the Jungle. Turn ends

Turn 3:

Attempt test #2 If you pass, retrieve force, and then deploy test #3 on the Jungle and immediately pass it (retrieve force if possible). \/ Bog Clearing/Swamp if you haven’t already; if you have then \/ Yoda’s Hut next to the Bog Clearing/Swamp. Deploy test #4 on the Bog Clearing/Swamp and move your apprentice (with landspeed =2 thanks to The Way of Things) across the Training Area to the Bog Clearing/Swamp. Turn ends

Turn 4:

Attempt test #4. If you pass, retrieve force. Deploy test #5 to the Bog Clearing/Swamp. At this point you want to have most of your cards in your hand, so you can easily track one or both of the Artoo-Detoo in Red 5’s. You need to have Traffic Control out at this point (remember that you can /\ any card using test #4’s bonus text). During the move phase, have Yoda get out of the backpack. You can lose Yoda’s Hope to take into a ‘levitation’ card, if you want to. Turne ends.

Turn 5:

Flip Luke/Leia upside-down to indicate that you are attempting test #5. You should also, this turn, use Traffic Control to throw the Artoo-Detoo In Red 5(s) into your Used Pile. Turn ends.

Turn 6:

REMEMBER TO RECIRCULATE…or you will never forgive yourself. At the end of your turn, flip Luke/Leia, and draw one of the conveniently placed R2 in Red 5’s. Turn ends.

Turn 7:

At this point the testing phase technically ends. Deploy test #6 and blow the opponent away.

Obviously this is just an optimal situation, and things are not likely to turn out like what I just outlined above, but I’d say that 8 or 9 turns is a good estimate of how long it will usually take to flip the objective.

<Card Choices>

Now I get my chance to explain the card choices before I get people asking why the heck I used certain cards in this deck.

Rycar Ryjerd (V): Pulls Obi-Wan’s Diary and Meditation, which can provide some in-battle punch/defense in a pinch.

Cantina?!?: I got this idea from tyranus; Since not all DS decks are going to give you a good place to battle, supply your own battleground. Not only will it be a good place for the DS to try (emphasis on try) to control, but its also a good place for you yourself to force drain and lure the opponent in…especially with two lightsaber bonuses.

Obi-Wan’s Hut?!?: I credit this one to tyranus as well. This is just sort of a safe-haven to deploy to, and Obi-Wan deploys for only two here. Can’t get much better than that!

Master Luke: This card is perfect for replacing SoS with after completing test #5. Test #2 boosts SoS’s power by one, so you can either directly replace SoS with Master Luke or you can return SoS to your hand and deploy Master Luke afterward. Master Luke’s ability to return aliens to the opponent’s hand is perfect with MWYHL. If the opponent’s Mara Jade is getting on your nerves, just pull out your stacked 7 and send her back.

Lando With Vibro-Ax: When used in MWYHL, Lando can have his revenge on Vader for kicking him off of Cloud City. With the 7 under test #5, the opponent needs a 4 or better to keep Vader in the battle. Your odds are even better with the Emperor; your opponent has to draw a 7 to keep him in.

Flash Of Insight (V): This is one of my favorites from V set 5 and really is nice for MWYHL. I can use it to abuse some cards that frequently get lost like Meditation, Weapon Levitation, Blaster Deflection, Skywalkers, and Gift Of The Mentor by circulating them back into my deck. At the same time it reveals one of my possible training destinies, a nice thing to know that doesn’t really impact the way that the opponent plays.

It Could Be Worse: With the new version of Yoda, this card is down but definitely not out, and I keep one in to help keep down my force loss.

Starship Levitation: Since this deck is a little low on space power, I have this card to insure that I can keep some decent space power. It’s pull-able by Yoda’s Hope, so easy to get into hand. Decent destiny as well.

Blaster Deflection: There’s nothing quite as fun as getting the opponent to kill his or her self. Take this scenario: The opponent has Darth Vader with a stormtrooper elite armed with a (V) Assault Rifle going against my Master Luke w/ Anakin’s Saber. The trooper fires the rifle, I retarget it for three force against Vader, and use my 7 under test #5 to make Vader immediately lost. Suddenly it’s just Luke against a trooper. Nice, and you didn’t even pull the trigger! Lol!

Weapon Levitation: This card is very similar to Blaster Deflection in how it affects the opponent. Let them deploy all of the weapons and then just steal them. Use it with (V) Flash of Insight for multiple uses.

On The Edge: Once I pass test #5 I can retrieve 6 force with each of these. Also good with (V) Flash of Insight.

Deck Matchups:

AOBS: This should be pretty easy. Use Honor of the Jedi to absorb the damage and then just use all of the jedi test bonuses to beat them into the under-levels of Coruscant.

ISB: Another simple one. Once you complete test #1 their strategy is screwed, because their force drain bonuses are gone.

TDIGWATT: Should also be pretty simple. Dark Deal won’t be able to hurt you, but watch out for the space power.

COTVG: Simple, but don’t let the Rancor place OOP any of your characters. Just beat down the opponent and use Master Luke and Lando w/ Ax to keep their numbers down

MKOS: Very similar to COTVG. Just take advantage of your anti-alien abilities

HDADTJ: Put Obi-wan at the Cantina to keep the objective unflipped. Use Honor of the Jedi for some protection. Their character base won’t be too diverse so they shouldn’t be able to beat you down.

These are just the decks that I have had experience against. Thank you to anyone who read this thing all the way through. I want to give all the credit to tyranus for giving me a lot of ideas and encouragement while making this deck. It took me about five months to get all of the cards I needed, but the deck has finally arrived. I would appreciate advice on how to reinforce my space power, which, in my opinion, is pretty weak. Also appreciated would be a better way to balance my interrupts so they can effectively be used both during and after testing. Thank you very much and God bless!
