Strategy
The basis of this deck is to sit at the docking bays and drain, but since the opponent is (typically) going to be unwilling to let you do this, I have several contingency plans.
The first is if the opponent decides to sit in space and drain. (If your opponent is likely to use Hidden Base, or this tactic in general, put in a couple more <> Docking Bays). What you need to do is get out Imperial Decree and control the two rebel base docking bays. Then get the <> DB’s down and reduce their drains. Then you can just sit there for your heart’s content, draining away. Although this may be boring, it wins the game.
The 2nd is if your opponent decides to evade you. In this case use Pinned Down to keep the opponent from reacting away from your troopers with weapons. This strategy can be deadly against QMC because even the infamous Path of Least Resistance forces the opponent to pay for running away.
The third situation is if your opponent tries to battle it out. With characters like Palpatine, Tarkin, Mara, the (V) Probe Droids and all of the troopers, this is probably the most enjoyable tactic. (V) Assault Rifles are an extremely effective weapon to use with Imperials, and unless your opponent packs (V) K’’lor’slug, they will be crying for mercy. The (V) Rifles deploy and fire for free, fire at same and adjacent locations for +1 destiny, and cause the target to be lost. Deadly.
Card Explanations:
Sergeant Tarl: A trooper who is also an ISB agent
Mobilization Points: Helps boost force generation
Imperial Decree: Cancel all opponent’s force drain bonuses
Imperial Academy Training: Helps out non-unique troopers and adds to battle destinies
(V) Imperial Domination: Retrieve those Imperials
Masterful Move: Pull Ghhhk and Monnok and do some good tracking
Trooper Charge: Makes your troopers power +2 and immune to attrition. Used 5.
Blast Points: Deploys a weapon on a trooper from your reserve deck. You can also add one battle destiny when your trooper fires a weapon.
Thanks for reading all of this. Any constructive comments would be greatly appreciated.
Shewski: Thanks for pointing out the problem with Imperial Domination. I have This Is Some Rescue in for dispensible high destiny that counters Out of Comission. I don't have any of the cards you mentioned, so this will have to do the way it is.
LordHoban: Bear in mind that I can't use Garrisons in Classic. I do need to watch out for LU/L, though. The (V) Assault Rifles +Blasted Droid might be able to eliminate speeders, but I'll need to be careful and quick. Thanks!
Wedge231: Thanks for responding. I use troopers because they are good with An Entire Legion of My Best Troops. They're armor four, which I think is equal to that maitenance walker, Blizzard 4. I like using the troopers because they have more modifiers and such. There's no Trooper Assault for AT-AT's (I wish there was though). Thanks!
catman421: Thanks for pointing out the Fallen Portal risk. I'll have to fix that in some way. As for Vader, I only have 1x Vader w/ Saber, and he can't be used in classic. As for the Probe Droids, the original ones stank but the (V) ones are really good. Thanks for taking the time to review.
pointy-eared green dude: Check the list again, I do have Academy Training. :) There is a complete list of ISB agents at http://www.theforce.net/ccg/sw/reference/. Check it out! Thanks for the review.
