Deck info

Introduction

This deck was created after I though of doing that Premiere-Only contest in the forums. It’s a deck that revolves around Tatooine and has a good Empire-Alien mix. Remember that it ONLY HAS PREMIERE IN IT!!

Strategy

Oh, man. This deck was actually fun to build! I honestly thought it would be sheer hell not having the luxuries of objectives and starting interrupts. Sure, there’s no way that this deck could really hold it’s own nowadays, but… if only it were 1995.

Well, enough of that, on with the strategy. For a starting location, use the Jawa Camp so you can get the pesky scavengers out there immediately. There’s no way to pull locations, so whatever comes to ya is what you get. I did pack a double-serving of Tatooine in hopes of getting some space control set up with the Star Destroyers. I put Yavin 4 in the deck because I imagined that a Premiere-only Light Side deck would be focused on Yavin, and if it’ll be there anyway, why not have yours out instead of your opponent’s? The Cantina and Mos Eisley give some nifty bonuses to this mostly alien deck, and Expand The Empire can spread the bonus to neighboring sites.

Now for character choice. Jawas aren’t exactly powerful, but in numbers they can be powerful in a Premiere-Only deck like this. I also added Sandcrawlers for them to drive around in. The Jawa Camp lets you deploy them without needing the force from your opponent, which has always pissed me off. To add a little alien zing, I put Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba in the deck. I was even thinking of calling the deck, “Dr. Evazan (or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Ponda Baba)” -Stanley Kubrick reference, anyone? Anyway, enough stupid jokes. I figured that if nothing else, the two could help out in space. R1-G4 is one of those cards that I just can’t get enough of (at least when I’m only playing Premiere like this). He adds a little power and some basic immunity to attrition to my Star Destroyers, which’ll really get the space game going. Vader and Tarkin bring some much-needed power to the deck, especially when battling together. M’iiyoom Onith is always a welcome addition to an alien based Premiere deck; her ability is absolutely awesome if your characters are pretty weak and you don’t want them battling crazy Rebel tough guys (Luke, Obi, Han).

As for starships, Imperial-Classes are the best non-unique capital ships in Premiere. The TIEs deploy free to capital ships, which lets you get them out of your hand and leave cards in your force pile for other good stuff. Vader’s Custom TIE isn’t necessary, but if Vader’s not needed on the ground, this card lets you turn him loose in the skies.

The effects of the deck help out quite a bit. Expand the Empire is best on the Cantina, but works somewhat on Jawa Camp or Mos Eisley too. Fear Will Keep Them In Line bolsters your power on Tatooine or Yavin (heck, both if you draw ‘em both!). Reactor Terminal really helps to pull Vader or Tarkin. There’s really not much other way to do so in Premiere.

Kintan Strider is an old favorite of mine, and works very well in conjunction with Onith, especially in a deck like this one that’ll be sure to have some characters in the lost pile. I decided to just go with Sense in this deck. I figured that it can cancel Sense or Alter, or any other interrupt for that matter, and Premiere interrupts have always seemed more powerful to me than the effects. Takeel is a godsend for this deck, considering there’s only 3 cards in the whole deck with a destiny>3. Yeah, scary, but Takeel got my back.

Well, that’s about it for this deck. Remember I only used Premiere cards, so please don’t give me a crappy rating because I didn’t have a starting interrupt or I didn’t use virtual cards. It was fun making this deck and it put me back in touch with my ccg roots. If anyone else posts a deck like this here, I’ll gladly take a look at it, and I’d appreciate any advice you other “old schoolers” have. And did I mention that this deck is only Premiere?

EDIT-- Thanks again, DL!

Shewski- I did put it under theme/fun first time, but apparently it swithces to standard automatically when I modified the content (in fact I just double-checked it and that does happen every time). Thanks for the rate!

MOD- hmm, that's weird! Good to know!
