The 2004 World Championship was the 9th Star Wars CCG World Championship, run by the Players Committee at Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana, on 19–22 August 2004.[2][3][4] Brandon Schele defeated Reid Smith in the final.[3] Schele posted his Dark My Lord, Is That Legal? and Light Yavin 4: Massassi Throne Room decks on DeckTech as his "World Champion" lists (see Results). The Players Committee held all three days in the DecipherCon area of Gen Con at the Indiana Convention Center; Day 3 was a top-12 cut, and the winner received $1,000.[1] Greg Anderson was the listed tournament director[5] and, as the only Advocate present, ran all three days.[6] The field size and the final places from 3rd down have not been found.

The constructed pool was printed Decipher cards through Theed Palace plus the original Players Committee Virtual Sets then legal. The wiki files it under Premiere - Original VS6, from the newest virtual cards in the published lists; a numbered cutoff for the event has not been confirmed.

Results

Place Player Dark Light
1 Brandon Schele My Lord, Is That Legal? Yavin 4: Massassi Throne Room
2 Reid Smith Carbon Chamber Testing (Day 2) —
Day 3 (place not known; 1st after Day 2)[6] Nick Jones Hunt Down And Destroy The Jedi Hidden Base
Day 3 (place not known)[6] Lee Edwards — —

Places from 3rd down are not known; a 2020 forum thread that compiled Worlds Day 3 results also lists places 3–8 as missing. The Players Committee's schedule advanced the top 12 from Day 2 to Day 3,[1] so Day 3 had more than eight players. In an October 2004 forum post David Kangas wrote that Nick Jones "placed first in Day 2" and that the Day 3 setup put him "in the money regardless of how you played"; in a reply, Schele wrote that he played Lee Edwards in the first round of Day 3.[6][7] Decks are the lists recovered in 2026 from DeckTech posts (Internet Archive copies) and Players Committee decklist forms; each deck page cites its own source.
