1999 Corellia Regionals
1999 Corellia Regionals was the Star Wars CCG regional championship for the Corellia region, a qualifier for the 1999 Decipher World Championship. It was held in September 1999 in the Holiday Inn ballroom in Indianapolis, Indiana. Forty-nine players took part, out of 118 who had qualified through regional preliminaries, and they came from all five of the region's states. Chad McCory of Carmel, Indiana, won the two-game final against Joe Mornout and earned a place at Worlds.[1][2]
Format[edit]
- Type: Regional championship (Corellia), World Championship qualifier

Final[edit]
- Game one: McCory (Light, Hidden Base) against Mornout (Dark, CCT/Manipulator). The two had already met that day. McCory flipped his objective, freed Wedge at the Cloud City: Security Tower and won by 16.[2]
- Game two: McCory (Dark, Death Star with Bad Feeling Have I) against Mornout (Light, Hidden Base with Dagobah sites). Mornout's battle with I Have A Very Bad Feeling About This drew 27 in destiny, but Come Here You Big Coward, Rebel Barrier and You Are Beaten left him with under 24 Force and nowhere to drain, and he drew up to concede.[2]
Statistics[edit]
- 49 participants, 6 drops, 7 byes, 3 timed wins, 136 games
- Light Side won 69 full and 2 timed games; Dark Side won 64 full and 1 timed
- Largest win: 45, Joe Mornout; closest win: 1, Blair Franklin[2]
Tournament reports[edit]
- Alex Alcalde 1999 Corellia Regional Championship (tournament report) — director's report by Alex Alcalde, with full standings
- Frank Lamantia Corellian Regional Report No.1 (tournament report) — by Frank Lamantia, 6th, 4–2
- Jared Lockwood Corellian Regional Report No.2 (tournament report) — by Jared Lockwood, 3rd, 5–1
Discrepancies[edit]
- Date: Alcalde's report says the event "was held this Saturday", and Decipher's NewsFlash is dated Monday 27 September 1999, which points to 25 September.[2][1] But two reports of the September 1999 Anderson tournament, dated 25 September, already call McCory the Corellia regional winner.[3] So the date is given here as September 1999.
- Final, game two: Frank Lamantia gives McCory's margin as 21; Alcalde gives none and says Mornout drew up to concede.[4]
