Lore
Enclosed All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST). Provides flanking support to the AT-ATs of Blizzard Force. Modified for cold weather combat.
Strategy
My favorite Dark Card. Enough said. Well, that would not make much of a card extra, would it? What combat vehicle is a staple of nearly every dark deck: the "Chicken Walker"! Take a look at the finalists decks from the 1997 World Championships, the mighty Blizzard Scout 1 makes an appearance in both decks.
Let's dissect this beauty. The Blizzard Scout 1 is the AT-ST which made an extremely brief sprint across the screen during the Empire Strikes Back. What they didn't tell you in the movie was that Darth Vader was being whisked to the Echo Docking Bay, and, by the way, he trampled Major Bren Derlin on his way in to the hangar (Sorry Mr. Claven) [You see, Major Bren Derlin was talking to 2-1B about this snowman who was the spitting image of Richard Nixon.... TRAMPLE].
Blizzard Scout 1 is the prototype of the Imperial's AT-ST cards which will come in Return of the Jedi expansions. This unique walker boasts everything you look for in a card. The Chicken Walker (named as such for its awkward look) is a natural in the mountains of Hoth (Hoth: Mountains, the 6th Marker), where it deploys for 2 and has power 4, a great ratio. But wait, let's take a very typical game situation, Darth Vader is at the Defensive Perimeter waving his lightsaber at Commander Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan and Captain Han. Although they are out of sagacious gifts from the mentor or witty comments about not getting cocky (see the chicken theme), they decide to pick on our poor Dark Lord and initiate a battle. Well, Mr. Tarkin just hops aboard his Blizzard Scout 1 and reacts all the way over to join his comrade in arms.
This interlude brings up the real benefits of Blizzard Scout 1. First, it boasts a landspeed of 3, the ability to react, a permanent pilot and a slot to fill with a pilot -- a great package deal. Remember there are several 3 ability Dark Side Pilots out there. Second, just look at that destiny, a 4! Perfect to keep your average destiny up, and pulling one of these as destiny for Trample will squash all of those pesky Light Side spies. (OK OK, if Obi, Luke, Princess Leia, BoShek or Yoda pull off Plastoid Armor and get Undercover it will miss, but don't get technical with me!) Third, the walker is forfeit 5, a great way to soak up damage (just remember to lose the pilot first). Finally, there is also an S-comp link for good measure.
Drawbacks. That is a tough one with the mighty Chicken Walker. But there are a couple. This walker does not have any immunity to attrition, despite its 4 armor rating. The other drawback is more of a reminder, Blizzard Scout 1 does not count towards Walker Garrison as it is not an AT-AT.
Forget that arrogant General Veers in his hulking Blizzard 1, live life on the edge, blaze across the Hoth tundra in search of rebels to trample under foot with the all-powerful Chicken Waaaaalker!
