Build notes

  • Jedi Knights credit, exact: the 2001 rulebook lists "Evan Lorentz" under "THE DECIPHER JEDI KNIGHTS TEAM" with no role. Only Lischke, the additional designers, Boulden, Rob Burns and Dan Burns get roles. The lead now says this.
  • Lead photo: crop of Decipher's DecipherCon 2002 photo PANA0035 (caption names him alone as head judge). Original, the 1998 Ambassador portrait (89×121, Decipher), and PANA0082 are in Photographs.
  • Service rows: Star Trek CCG Ambassador (from December 1996, source role word) and DecipherCon 2002 Star Trek CCG World Championship head judge.
  • DecipherCon 1999: Decipher's RFD audio-feed pages list "Evan Lorentz, AP designer, tells all" (Thursday 11 November) and "Evan's thoughts on Round 1 of ST finals" (Saturday 13 November). No staff or judge title for him at DecipherCon 1999 found on the archived DecipherCon pages (all 174 photo pages and 73 event/score/report pages grepped).
  • Cross-links: DecipherCon 1999 Star Trek section cites the Saturday feed. New stub Brad DeFruiter (redirect Brad De Fruiter).

Doubtful data

  • fri26 (DecipherCon 1999): the caption does not say which man is Lorentz. The man on the left (RFD shirt, staff lanyard) matches the 1998 Ambassador portrait and the 2002 head-judge photo; the man on the right is then Richard Handley. Identification by comparison, not by caption.
  • The 1998 bio page says he was "returning to the World Championships a second time"; his first Worlds year is not on the archived pages.

Missing data

  • His start date at Decipher is not on a Decipher page found so far (only a login-walled profile, not used). TrekToday (22 August 2000) reports he left the Star Trek rules-questions role for another position at Decipher.
  • DecipherCon 2000: all 85 archived HTML pages under deciphercon/2000 and tournaments/deciphercon2000 grepped. Found: the Star Trek CCG Design-a-Card seminar with Bill Martinson and Tim Ellington (Lalumiere report fkl1) and a 5 October soundbyte on Star Trek CCG World Finals deck lists. No photo caption, judge or staff title for him found. DecipherCon 2001 was cancelled.
  • DecipherCon 2002 now cross-linked; its three old citations have Preserved copies.
  • Second Edition credits: 2002 rulebook p. 30 "Second Edition Design: Evan Lorentz, Brad DeFruiter, Tim Ellington"; 2003 Call to Arms rulebook "Second Edition Design: Evan Lorentz, Brad DeFruiter". PDFs checked by sha256 (2E a6cb30d6…, CtA 8573d242…).
