Introduction

This deck aims to win via steady drains in space coupled with retrieval of a good portion of my well-armed fleet. Y-Wings can still pull out a win or two….

The published list has 63 cards.

'An Unusual Amount of Fear +5' is posted in the starting cards, but no Defensive Shields are named.

Notes

  • Qty 63 as published: the posted 'Hidden Base Marker' and 'HB Swap Marker' lines are not cards (no card by either name exists) and are left out. The headers add to 65 with them (Starting 8, plus a '+5' group of four systems and the swap marker after AUAOF); the other section counts match the list.
  • Original-era (V) cards dested to the newest printing legal on 2004-01-29: Gold 1 (V) (VS1); Escape Pod (V) (VS2; VS1 also existed); Wokling (V) (VS3); Flash Of Insight (V) and Rayc Ryjerd (V) (VS5; the draft had read Rayc as Rycar Ryjerd (V)); Rebel Planners (V) and Bright Hope (V) (VS6); Luke Skywalker (V) (VS1).
  • Posted 'Hol Okland' dested Hol Okand; 'Lietenant Telsij' Lieutenant Telsij; '<> Forest' the Special Edition generic Forest site; 'Artoo-Deeto in Red 5' Artoo-Detoo In Red 5; 'Slight Weapon Malfunction' Slight Weapons Malfunction.

Strategy

This is another of my themed HB variants, this time w/ Y-wings. They are decent ships, but not as powerful as X Wings, but still pretty fun.

You know most of the drill- use RP and your objective to get out your systems. A key system is Ralltiir, the home of Koensayr Mfg. You can use Wokling to get this effect out and running. Getting back 1 Y wing per turn is pretty nice!

I chose only some of the available Y Wing s- Gold 1 is enhanced, Gold 4 and 6 are from the SE so you get a little more power with them in the picture. 6 also gets a bonus at Kashyyyk. I included some of the better matching ships to make the space package a little more competitive.

My retrieval consists of Kessel Runs (which I like to do from the Rendezvous Pt unless a better system is out there), and the ever-present Flash and OTE combo. Be careful versus Code Clearance shield so you don't shut down Luke-trieval.

The forest is my nod to the establishing a BG site for Menace, S & D, etc. I plan on drawing it or Threepioing it to hand. I'll typically only go there when I have a Houjix to back me up. I suppose I can do the sandwhirl trick, but I figured that at least EPP Obi can take out someone. I didn't include EPP Qui due to deck space… there's a lot I'm trying to cram in here, and some of the Y Wings come w/ two good pilot types.

The bonus is that there are a TON of Rogue Squadron characters in here, so RSL gets more use than ever. The DS2 pilots add to my weapon draws, and Kin Kian adds to a drain w/ a Gray Y Wing.

I included some weapons and space tricks to get more out of the ships. Ion Cannons get rid of TIE guns, and make it easy to hit with every other gun. Power Pivot works wonders still, and Stay Sharp can add power in a pinch or act as a Sniper. Org Attack is the meat of my space tricks, which adds to my ships power and makes them immune to attrition.

All in all, it's a fun attempt at a passable deck using an oft-neglected starfighter class.

EDIT

Thanks for the review!

Wedge does go in his Ship, the Skate is for Rayc to make the Kessel Run. I don't believe Conc Missiles can be included here, since they only go on bombers, frieghters, Awings, or transports. It's a tight deck, I echo you about those multiples!
