Introduction

With the help of Cam, Shewski, and most especially challenger, I completely changed about a third of my previous QMC deck listed a few posts below this one. I kept some of the elements of me in it, but I was looking for a better rounded tourney deck that could face open play, yet stay classic. Some of the cards suggested I can’t get a hold of at this time, and I’m not transforming it into open format. So, here it is!

With anything that you create yourself, you feel that it is awesome and it is the best that you can do. However, this is not always the case. I’ve been working on this deck since eighth grade, and I’m still not finished with it. I work on it, and then I put it up on the boards…let it get batted around a bit, and then I take it back to the drawing board. This is probably the fourth rendition of my QMC deck. Thanks to challenger, Cam, and Shewski who gave my deck a rigorous raking. I couldn’t do everything you guys suggested…some because of my card base, some because, like any personal deck, you want to keep some things for yourself as a sort of inner satisfaction (i.e. SABACC). :D

Well, let’s just begin with the start of the game. 99.9% of the time I’ll probably start KTEOF, Wokling (v), and Squadron Assignments. However, if I’m playing Senate, I’ll start Scrambled Transmission (v). If they play anything related to Cloud City, I’ll drop Sai’torr Kal Fas (v) for added back up, and maybe even Lando’s Not A System, He’s A Man. It just depends on the situation. Wokling (v) can pull ALL of my non-starting effects, but it will usually pull Cloud City Celebration for nice retrieval.

On to character selection… I can see the point of using EPPs in a deck like this. It would save me the card slots by removing character weapons and Sai’torr Kal Fas (v), and I could put more characters/bullet effects/interrupts. But seriously, I like it that my characters have GAME TEXT, and more than just a weapon. I can drop LS,JK by himself and do some serious damage. Obi-wan can move characters like Kitik Keed’kak (v) away from the location. Daughter of Skywalker adds to my activation and can also take on Mara Jade, TEH on her own. Orrimaarko/Corran Horn equals the death of any Imperial spy, and Corran can smack on Bounty Hunters. All the smugglers can hold a convention and open up a can of whoop @$$, and they probably won’t get touched with a +2 defense bonus from Talon Karrde. Cloud City Lando is great for Sabacc and LNAS,HAM, and if I control all of CC, he’ll be a power of 8. :D Grugnak is a constant PoLR, and BoShek can pull any starfighter with Squassin, and he can pull Obi’s Journal. Haash’n/Thaneespi/Ackbar equals no Lateral Damage, no destiny if opponent doesn’t have ability >6, +8 power, +1 hyperspeed, +1 armor to the Home One. Who doesn’t like that?

I think my fleet is a sound fleet. I kept the Liberty because it has its own Bacta Tank, and the forfeit 9 can come in handy. R2 in R5 was a good suggestion, challenger, it makes my fleet more mobile and it opened up a card slot for all those interrupts you suggested. Home One & Company is a no brainer…it can kick when it is fully loaded. Outrider + Super Falcon = Two battle destiny, their power is minus whatever the Outrider equals…yeah, not pretty. The only thing I wish I had to tie this up is Wedge, RSL/Red Squadron 1/X-wing Laser Cannons. Gotta get that…

This deck has lots of red, and I’m going to get more for it. I need some Off The Edges…and I’m fixing to get my hands on a copy! For signature and novelty, I have Cloud City Sabacc/Casino retrieval. I haven’t lost Sabacc in the last ten or eleven rounds, so it is basically solid retrieval. The SATM/BPs are boosters for my blasters, and I can snipe with my lightsabers. OOC/TTs are good recyclers and, as challenger says, can get rid of Visage and pesky cards in the lost pile. With high ability characters, Alter and Sense combos are feasible to counter the red wave. Clash of Sabers is necessary to hold characters in place for beatdown, while PoLR can be used to runaway or react. The Bith Shuffle/Desperate Reach kills tracking immediately and is good for tracking on your own.  ;) For the effects…I chose Mechanical Failure because it is good tech against Walkers. Uncontrollable Fury is good tech against BHMB and Hunt Down, CC Celebration is for constant retrieval, while Lightsaber Proficiency adds to my force drains and the power of any lightsaber-holding character.

I know that EPPs are the thing these days, but I seriously enjoy having the real characters and their weapons. Plus, I don’t have the EPPs… Obi-wan’s Journal is just icing on the cake…blocks a weapon destiny (SPARRING!) and denies removing the drain ability from the lightsaber. It also doesn’t allow the character to be Disarmed, which even though you don’t see too much anymore, it could be a nasty surprise.

I hope this deck is much better than the last three times I have posted this deck. I’ve played it, and it plays very smoothly. I can flip in two-three turns easily, and I can be getting the cards I need soon after. I don’t have too many changes to make, maybe a five card switch out. I’m serious…after reading my replies, I overhauled my red section and dropped some of my “veteran” characters and starships that have never seen the inside of my collector’s box. What do you guys think?

Thanks!
