Players Committee rule changes

Note: This is a fan encyclopedia index of selected Players Committee (PC) rules changes with before/after comparisons. It is not the Players Committee and does not replace starwarsccg.org or the current Players Committee Advanced Rulebook. Prefer dated primary or archived announces; do not invent game text.

Personas rule changes (November 2021)

Source and dates

The Players Committee posted Significant Rule Changes on Personas Announced on 6 November 2021. The announce states the updates apply to all official Players Committee sanctioned events and all GEMP formats on 9 November 2021.

Before / after (six numbered changes)

Quoted summaries below follow the announce's six numbered headings. Before lines are short labels for the prior common understanding the announce is changing; they are not invented rulebook quotes. After lines paraphrase only what the announce states.

1. Two Landos (and other personas!)

Same persona could not usefully exist as opposing Light and Dark versions on table at once under the old persona blocking practice the announce replaces.	It is now possible for the same persona to exist on both sides of the Force at the same time. The announce cites a forthcoming Dark Side Lando in Set 17 usable even if a Light Side Lando is already on table.

2. Uniqueness rules still apply

Unique cards with the exact same card title could not share the table.	Uniqueness still applies: if two unique cards (example given: Light Lobot and Dark Lobot) have the exact same card title, they still are not allowed on table at the same time. Conversion example: if Tonnika Sisters convert to Light, Dark could not play another Tonnika Sisters.

3. Capturing and stealing

Capturing / stealing denied the opponent use of those cards.	Kept: any persona who is a captive on table prevents Light from deploying that persona; any stolen card on table prevents the other player from deploying that persona.

4. Out of play

Out-of-play handling was not described in this announce's "each player" form.	Each player has their own out-of-play (OOP) area. If your Lando goes OOP, you (not your opponent) are prevented from deploying Lando again that game. If you steal Falcon and it goes OOP onto your OOP area, you (not your opponent) are prevented from deploying Falcon again that game.

5. Mind Tricks Don't Work On Me

(Announce addresses edge cases of multiple copies of one persona on one side.)	Each player is allowed ONE of each persona on table. If a convoluted legal plan would put two Falcons on the same side at once, the rules will require placing one in your Lost Pile (it is not "just lost"). Illegal plays remain a TD matter.

6. Sidious, Palpatine and Emperor

Palpatine / Sidious / Emperor had long been treated as separated for gameplay; the FAQ notes this stood for over 20 years in large part because Light Palpatine needed to stay separate from Dark's Dark Jedi Master.

Unified as one persona, "Sidious". Each player may have one Sidious persona card on table at a time. Card references: "Sidious" → any of his cards (announce lists Senator Palpatine, Darth Sidious, Lord Sidious, Emperor Palpatine, The Emperor, Emperor Palpatine Foreseer, Palpatine Emperor Returned); "Palpatine" → Sidious versions with Palpatine in the title; "Emperor" → Sidious versions with Emperor in the title.
