Title
Grand Moff Tarkin
Lore
Leader. Governor of the Outer Rim. Death Star commander. Played a part in dissolving the Imperial Senate. He was plotting to use the Death Star, which established the principle of rule through fear, in a rebellion against the Emperor.
Game text
If participating in the same battle as Vader, may cancel just one card after the enemy reveals it to determine destiny. A starship he pilots gets power +2.
Comparison with the original English printing
The Japanese lore attaches the phrase about establishing rule through fear to the Death Star, while the original English gives the separate sentence "Defined doctrine of rule by fear." The Japanese game text says one card may be canceled after the enemy reveals it to determine destiny, while the English says "one opponent's destiny draw immediately after it is revealed." The printed Japanese ability label is フォース接触者; the original English label is FORCE-ATTUNED.[1][3]
Original English lore
Leader. Governor of Outer Rim Territories. Commanded Death Star. Helped disband Imperial Senate. Defined doctrine of rule by fear. Plotted to use Death Star against Emperor.
Original English game text
If with Vader in a battle, may cancel one opponent's destiny draw immediately after it is revealed. Adds 2 to power of any starship he pilots.
Rules
The November 1998 Decipher Glossary Version 2.0 states that English is the standard for tournament play, directing foreign-language cards and rules to be played and interpreted as their English counterparts under current rulings, errata and clarifications.[4]
