Defensive Shields

These cards were posted as Defensive Shields outside the deck.

SHIELDS (10) posted outside the 60, all named.

Notes

  • Visage Of The Emperor (unique) is posted once in Starting and x2 in Effects; dested as posted (3 copies, 60 total).
  • Original-era (V): Reactor Terminal (V) (Virtual Set 3, shield); Bad Feeling Have I (V) (Virtual Set 5); Firepower (V) (shield) and Ability, Ability, Ability (V) (Virtual Set 6). Security Precautions is unmarked: the printed card.
  • Shields are the Reflections III Defensive Shields of those names (Battle Order, Fanfare, Resistance, Allegations Of Corruption, Wipe Them Out, All Of Them also exist as Effects). The draft had dropped the shield list.
  • Posted 'Blockage Flagship: Bridge' dested Blockade Flagship: Bridge. Maul's Double-Bladed Lightsaber is the Reflections III card, posted by its exact title.

Strategy

My main fears when going is to this tourney will be LSC and Hidden Base. This deck is mainly built to deal with those, but also to be a strong contender to other deck types. The general strategy in a deck like this should be pretty familiar: Spread and drain, get Visage and Search And Destroy running, and duel if you get the chance. I will explain some card choices and specific mathups:

- Bad Feeling Have I [V]. Awesome card. Makes it possible to run just a few Vaders. It can pull six cards in this deck, Darth Vader's Lightsaber and Maul Strikes included.

- Aurra Sing. Draws battle destiny alone, has immunity to attrition, adds battle destinies with Boba or IG-88 and can steal sabers. Her weapon is destiny 7, so it doesn't matter if I get it out or not. If you happen to pull it, it goes equally well on Deep Hatred and Aurra. She's great in this deck.

61st cards:

- Darth Sidious

- Dr. Evazan & Ponda Baba

- Limited Resources

- Another Blizzard 4

- Bossk In Hound's Tooth

- Put All Sections On Alert

- Imperial Decree (V)

HIDDEN BASE

Unless they start Don't Do That Again, drop YCHF&MB; for Security Precautions. If you have that in hand, get Search And Destroy. Otherwise, those two are your priority for WMAOP. Remember that you also can deploy No Escape if you have that to get YCHF∓ back, and use it again to get another effect. (Although DDTA will most likely be there to suspend it by then.) Use Maul in ship to probe, Zuckuss if you have to. SnD and Visage should tear them apart early, and the Security Prec. blow will finish them off. Remember that you can't drain when they're at their flip side, so probing is mandatory.

LIGHTSABER COMBAT

Pull Deep Hatred with BFHI(V) and Ability x3 (V) with WMAOP. Stack your sevens and sixes (there are 10 in this deck) on Deep Hatred to win combats. Vader can duel Obi-Wan and Luke, and Maul can take care of Yoda and Qui-Gon. Just make sure that you pull and deploy TWBNMFY first. Mara can duel too, but can't use combat cards, so be careful. First Strike may block some of their evasion/battle interrupts.

WATCH YOUR STEP

You will have no use for SnD, so Visage will be your main thing. Try to lure Luke into a duel, and use Maul against their crappy aliens. Zuckuss in space and your other beatdown characters on the ground should make this matchup very winnable.

MASSASSI BASE OPERATIONS

Get Visage and SnD running as soon as possible. Try to beat down their characters at Yavin 4. You have to make some early damage to not fall behind when the 14 force blow comes. This is a tough matchup which I have never won.

PROFIT

You probably won't see much space here, so get out Carida and put a ship there to get Battle Order running. Battle their characters, duel if you can, and retrieve with Ability x3 (V) and First Strike.

Finally some of this deck's weaknesses:

- If they manage to cancel Visage and/or suspend SnD, your damage potential may not be enough to win. The drains are pretty small, you only have two sabers and Janus to add to them, so try to go after their sites if you can.

- If they get out Honor early, and you struggle with finding No Escape, it could slow you down a lot. Getting that third battleground may be vital in that case.

- Space is very weak, so if you run into a space heavy deck other than HB, you may be in trouble.

- This deck can be card intensive, especially if you want to duel. Along with high activation and relatively few characters, you have to manage your force wisely not to get stuck with a big hand and little Life Force.

Your comments are appreciated! Peace!
