Doug Taylor
Doug Taylor was a Star Wars CCG Player Advocate named by Decipher on the first Players' Committee Advocate team, listed under Gameplay Support with Eric Olson.[1] Early swccgpc.com Advocate Council pages list him as Card Design Advocate.[2][3][4]
This page is a fan encyclopedia stub based on dated public interviews and archived PC pages. It does not invent a full biography.
Players Committee / Advocate roles
- January 2002 (Decipher first Advocates): Gameplay Support (with Eric Olson), on the six-person first team announced by Warren Holland.[1]
- April 2002 (GPN interview): Interviewed as Game Play Design / Gameplay Support Advocate; described card design for virtual cards (one of two designers), playtesting feedback, and listening to fans as core duties.[5]
- Advocate Council (swccgpc.com captures): Card Design Advocate on council.htm snapshots from December 2002, June 2004, and August 2005.[2][3][4]
Roster context and later Council changes: Players Committee advocates.
GPN interview (19 April 2002) — sourced claims
A Game Players Network feature by Duane Bruun quotes Taylor on his background and early PC duties. Sourced points from that interview include:[5]
- Lived in the Seattle area; day job in law enforcement; described himself as a fan and supporter of SWCCG for over six years.
- Ran tournaments and leagues locally; early Squadron Member; ran Regionals, State (including a Provincial) Championships, and an Open.
- Playtester for Decipher games; wrote regularly for Scrye and Star Wars Gamer; known for developing Scenario formats.
- As Gameplay Support Advocate, main duty was designing virtual cards (one of two designers), sending designs to playtesting, evaluating feedback, and revising; also listening to fans and communicating with the community.
- Characterized community response to the first Virtual cards as strongly positive after earlier skepticism.
- In the same interview he stated he would turn 37 in a little over a week (as of the April 2002 interview). This page does not invent a date of birth from that remark.
Handle note (DougRed4)
Decipher's first-Advocates page used a contact address whose local-part was dougred4 for Doug Taylor.[1] A later starwarsccg.org About capture (~October 2014) lists forum handle DougRed4 as Historical Advocate.[6] The handle string matches; this page does not assert identity continuity of later forum accounts without a primary statement equating them, and does not republish the full email address.
