The third ever Starting Interrupt in SWCCG is quite a welcome for all players. Unlike previous Starting Interrupts, this one requires that you *not* play an Objective in order to use it. There are great advantages and disadvantages to this aspect. Being able to start with any two sites, one site and two generic sites, a system and a site, or a system with two generic sites allows for much flexibility with your deck or strategy. The biggest drawback is that you must give up the possibility of having effects that you can start with had you used an Objective instead (see Starting Interrupts from previous sets).
The other aspect of the card is the Used version which is useful if your deck focuses on battling. Using multiples of this card can be a great idea since you will be recirculating a 5 destiny card and possibly activating 5 Force if you draw it as your destiny! Strategy

By I-Ming Chen[1]

Try using a bunch of these cards, Battle Plan, and Draw Their Fire for maximum fun with battling.

Combos: Yavin 4: Massassi Throne Room + Careful Planning + 2 generic sites: A very popular deck that typically starts with <>Farm and <>Swamp. The <>Farm helps with your activation and the <>Swamp lets you pull Nudjs out of your deck to absorb the Dark Side icons to slow their game early. You end up activating 5 Force and giving your opponent none! And one of the best parts... you go first in the game!

Tatooine: Obi-wan's Hut + Careful Planning + Tatooine: Lars' Moisture Farm: Another popular deck type which utilizes the Lars and Harvest.

Tatooine: Obi-wan's Hut + Careful Planning + Tatooine: Toschi Station: Yet another Tatooine based deck which relies on deploying Obi-wan Kenobi early and 'converting' his power to Force generation. How about activating 9 Force on turn 2?

Tatooine: Obi-wan's Hut + Careful Planning + Tatooine: Mos Eisley: These starting locations allow you to setup the infamous "Cantina Shuffle" very easily.

Tatooine: Obi-wan's Hut + Careful Planning + Tatooine: Audience Chamber: A great counter to an opponent who starts with the Dark Side Jabba's Palace: Audience Chamber.

Endor: Chief Chirp's Hut + Careful Planning + 2 generic sites: Ewok power! Yub yub! :-)

Combos

  • Careful Planning + Yavin 4: Massassi Throne Room + 2 generic sites A very popular deck (TRM) that typically starts with <>Farm and <>Swamp. The <>Farm helps with your activation and the <> Swamp lets you pull Nudjs out of your deck to absorb the Dark Side icons to slow their game early. You end up activating 5 Force and giving your opponent none - and you go first in game.[2]

Rulings

  • If deploying two generic sites, they must be battlegrounds.[2]
  • The site(s) deployed must be related to the owner's starting location and must be battlegrounds immediately upon deploying.
  • The site(s) may be deployed even if the starting location was converted, or failed to convert an opponent's starting location.
