WARS Radio
Decipher WARS Radio (WARS Radio) was Decipher's weekly audio show for the WARS TCG, 25 June 2004 – 21 January 2005, 24 episodes. It replaced Radio Free Decipher and was hosted by Mark Tuttle, Decipher's PR and Marketing Manager.[1]
History[edit]
Radio Free Decipher ended with Broadcast 196 on 30 April 2004, in which Tim Ellington discussed the newly announced WARS TCG.[2] Decipher then moved the show's resources to a podcast devoted to WARS alone, distributed as MP3 files instead of RealAudio.[1][3] Regular segments included listener email, a weekly "Big Reveal" of WARS art or cards, and interviews with Decipher Games Studio staff.
WARS TCG used a game engine derived from the Star Wars CCG. Episode 8 (13 August 2004) presented WARS as "the game that's bringing back the SWCCG mechanics".[4][1]
Warren Holland interviews[edit]
Decipher Chairman and CEO Warren Holland appears in three episodes:
- Episode 3 (9 July 2004): the first part of an interview on the roots of the WARS TCG project.[5]
- Episode 4 (16 July 2004): the second part of the interview.[6]
- Episode 16 (6 October 2004): opening a pack on WARS release week and discussing the previous seven months of work.[7]
After WARS Radio, Decipher ran a short successor, Decipher Games Radio (March–April 2005).
Episodes[edit]
Episode 20 (3 December 2004) is not among the recovered files.[1]
