Talk:SWCCG 2nd Edition

Missing data

  • No Decipher internal 2nd Edition design document, card list, or mock-up faces survive in public sources. The July 2000 presentation excerpts are the printed pitch. Colson (2022) is the oral-history account of what a later reboot would have looked like.
  • LOTR TCG card back is now from Wikipedia File:The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game cardback.jpg (Wayback file page 20251224153727; image 20251119170146).
  • archive.org item youtube-PRRkRBHlo-o exists (BoardMatt, 24 April 2022) but was still processing at dest time. Watch-page Wayback 20261015174310 is the Preserved copy in the refs.
  • No other interview (Braunlich Booster Pack #28, Holland TFN license-end, Kallenbach TFN Flashback) names a SWCCG 2nd Edition product beyond the July 2000 pitch. The Kallenbach .hack mixed-deck quote is now in the body, cited from the Dothack Network capture. The Reddit copy (20210701195848) is a login wall with no interview text.

Possibly faulty data

  • Colson said WARS had "three major factions, maybe five in total." The printed game has five named factions plus Independent. Body reports both: printed five + Independent, and Colson's count.
  • Whisper of the Colson clip heard "reboot, .0"; auto-captions and the wiki transcript give "reboot 2.0". Body uses 2.0. Quotes were checked against the audio (faster-whisper base.en, clips 11:20–15:40 and 1:06:50–1:12:10), not raw captions.
  • The July 2000 pitch is backward-compatible 2nd Edition. Colson's later "one back, reboot 2.0" is a different, more complete reboot. Body keeps them in separate sections so the pitch is not rewritten as Colson's reboot.

Marginal cuts

  • Howard Roffman (TheForce.Net) said Wizards won the license with "a multi-layered experience within a single game (as opposed to multiple games for different audiences)." Inference that 2E would have unified SWCCG, Young Jedi and Jedi Knights is unsourced. Cut.
  • Players Committee Beginner's Rulebook PDFs titled "2nd Edition" (2021 fan beginner docs) are unrelated. No hatnote.
  • Full marketing-program list from the same presentation already lives on Decipher and the Star Wars CCG Lucasfilm license. Not repeated here.
  • WARS stack/interrupt, encampments, NōBots, casualty/damage/defense vocabulary: already on WARS TCG. Only the common back, factions, 4-copy cap and 60-card starters are in the article.
  • LOTR Shadows (2004) partial reboot: already on The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game. Cut here.

Build notes

  • Presentation excerpts: Wayback 20020602000629 of decipher.com/starwars/presentationexcerpts.html, posted by Warren Holland 28 December 2001.
  • Colson quotes: yt-dlp section clips, ffmpeg PCM into faster-whisper base.en int8. Auto-captions used for names/titles after Whisper confirmed meaning. Cite &t= seconds.
  • WARS 4-copy: Incursion rulebook, "You may include no more than four copies of a single card." Preserved copy 20261008234817.
  • Kallenbach mixed-deck quote: Wayback 20251205002711 of dothack.org topic 1346 (opened; full interview text).
  • LOTR mixed deck: CR 4.2 Draw Deck, "at least 60 cards and must have an equal number of Shadow cards and Free Peoples cards, shuffled together."
  • 16 October 2026: removed the Complexity and Defensive Shields section (Bill: shields are another topic). That narrative is now Silver bullets. Colson's 2E quotes stay here.

Skywalker Ranch caption (21 October 2026)

  • Caption changed from "mock-up from the 2000 pitch" to a promotional card made to show Lucasfilm (Bill, personal communication, 21 October 2026). Cut the link to the July 2000 presentation: the encyclopedia shows the card without a caption, and the July 2000 excerpts do not mention it.
  • Added Preserved copy for the Wikipedia WARS card back file page (20261008234817, opened from the VPS).
