Strategy
First of all, I want to give thanks to Tyranus, Swcironecg, and Echo Base Trooper for posting some nice TTO decks that piqued my interest. Also thanks to everyone else who posted a similar recently- this seems to be an extremely popular deck type all of the sudden.
Here's how you build a Death Star II:
Lay down YCHF & MP.
NOTE: If you are paranoid about the DDTA shield, you will want to grab Desperate Counter with Op. as Planned. DDTA is pretty easily suspended with any ship (and Jerjerrod even) so I tend to go agressive and start the combo.
Play Jerjerrod to the Endor DB. Use his GT to search for a sector. While looking, check to see if Gall and Desperate Counter are in as well. Pull sector, pull Gall w/ MP, and ditch the combo to pull Desperate Counter. Pull IAO Combo and Comb. Response. Pull the DS II DB. Tired yet? Now play DS II, the first sector, Gall, and the DS II DB. That should have been fun. Finish up by DB transitting the Moff to the DS II DB for free.
From there on out, continue to pull sectors and eventually get TTO in play. While you are doing this, you should be able to get some presence at either system and/or at the DBs. Put the <> DB at Gall in order to maximize the TTO damage.
You are going to want to get We Shall Double Our Effots out quickly with the effect pullers to help defend your Death Star. The other key to defense is Mianda at the DS II DB. He can easily stop any attempt to blow you away with his double move/firing GT. You're going to want to get out Phennir, since he pulls the AO. The AO gives you force drain bonuses at DBs related to systems you occupy, lets you save downed TIEs, hurts non unique ships, and gives your TIEs more immunity to attrition.
If completely set up, you have great damage potential. You can be draining for 2 at the Endor DB, 2 at Endor, 1 at Gall, 2 at the <> DB, and then 4 from TTO damage, for a total of 11 Force loss.
Card Choices:
Endor Ops starts- Lets me activate more than 1 in case Strike Planning is started by my opponent. Gall- It's at parsec 9, the only location where DS II can get to in one move that is also pulled by Mob Points. I didn't want to go the Merrjk route since I just needed one system.
Inc Losses- saves my guns, which all have a nice destiny value.
No Escape- I have two sources of damage that are helped by this effect- TTO itself and Pride.
Pride of the Empire- pullable by Black 2 and Fanfare shield, will let me do damage once the opponent tries to wrest control of a system from me.
All Power/ICSH- these cards put the power in Power TIEs. Gives me power, immunity to attrition, gets weapons, and adds battle destiny draws.
Short Range- between this and 181-4, you should be able to pull every ship and pilot combo easily.
Dark Maneuvers & Tallon Roll- Powers up Ties as well and good for defending Gall or Endor.
Sabers/Pilots- these are the best TIEs in the game, plus they have some fun GT to boot!
Vader's TIE- Helps get out Vader.
Black 2- protection against LS swarm decks.
Thanks for reading and reviewing!!
EDIT Thanks for the review and the compliments, Hoth! I must admit that I forgot totally about Dreadnaughts. They might warrant inclusion. I think if I ran this as more of a swarm type deck, the abundance of TIEs would make their inclusion a no-brainer. As it is now, I only will strike with a handful of TIEs. Plus I have the DS II to ferry them to wherever I want them to go. Do other people think that I need more space?
Thanks for the review and compliments, Blackmoon! I think I've decided against the dreadnaughts, for the reasons listed above (IE they may only give me 2 more power), but I am considering adding in Black 3 and DS 61 3. I'm looking for opinions on the feedback thread, so stop by and put in your .02!
