Strategy
Great, now I'm getting Tech Points on GPN! :P
>;)
- NOTE: This is a copy/paste re-post from DeckTech... just thought I'd share the love. >:)***
The main focus of this deck is to get Luke trained to test 6, then cross Vader over to your side. I'll get to the specifics on how to fix an Anakin Skywalker destiny in a little while... but first, I thought I'd give a turn-by-turn of how MWYHL up to test 5 works, as most people either don't know, don't care, or think they know but have it all wrong.
Turn 1 - activate (don't forget your +1 from Wokling!). Pull the Training Area with Dagobah's text, and while you're in there check to see if Son Of Skywalker (V), Yoda (V), and Great Warrior are in there as well... if they are, PULL 'EM! If your opponent was kind enough to give you two force and you spotted Encampment in there as well, grab it too. Also pull Yoda's Hope with the objective and either Luke's Lightsaber or Wise Advice with SOS. Play test 1.
Opponent's turn 2 - pull A Jedi's Strength.
Turn 2 - pull Domain Of Evil. Activate. Draw your testing destiny (you should only need a 3 or higher). Pull Jungle and play it. Pull Wise Advice or Luke's Saber if you haven't already. Play test 2 at the Jungle, and pray that your opponent does NOT move it. If they move it to the Training Area, curse them for making you burn a turn and leave Luke there. If they leave it alone, move Luke over and end your turn.
Opponent's turn 3 - pull Size Matters Not.
Turn 3 - pull It Is The Future You See. Activate. Draw for test (should be pretty close to an auto-pass at this point). Pull Swamp and play it. If they moved test 2 during your last turn, you'll have to move to Jungle for test 3 and go from there. If they left it alone... drop test 3 (and auto-pass from The Way Of Things), drop test 4 to the Swamp, and move Luke over.
Opponent's turn 4 - pull You Must Confront Vader.
Turn 4 - Activate. Draw for test (should be pretty close to an auto-pass). Pull Yoda's Hut and play it next to the Training Area. Play test 5 to the Swamp. Play Threepio or Mirax (preferably Mirax because bottom-tracking is easier).
Turn 5 - Activate. Start testing. If you aren't tracking an R2 in R5 yet, DO IT! End turn.
Turn 6 - Activate up to the tracked R2 in R5. Declare end of turn, draw your destinies for test 5 (using the R2 in R5, of course), flip.
While you're doing this, you'll also want to be dropping beats (and hopefully stacking a card or two on I Feel The Conflict) and doing some drain damage at the Hologameboard. With Battle Plan and test 1 dramatically interfering with your opponent's drain potential, you shouldn't have to worry too much about recovering from drain damage. Walkers damage or Occupation damage would be a bit nasty, but I don' think it would be too much of a problem.
After you flip, you're going to want to look at completing test 6 and crossing Vader (a Lord Vader would be SOOOOO nice... especially when you give him Anakin's Lightsaber!). Drop the test, pick up Luke, drop him to Vader's location, drop Leia there as well if you've got her in hand, and do the test 6 duel. Odds are you'll win fairly easily (remember to make them stack a card on I Feel The Conflict for losing the duel!). If you have at least two cards on I Feel The Conflict at this point, play an On The Edge targetting Luke, call for any number,... and use the destiny 0 on test 5, making Luke lost. BUT WAIT! In response to Luke being "about to be lost" at Vader's site, go ahead and play Anakin Skywalker! Why did Luke cross the Vader? To get him to the other side. :P
Give Vader (or should we call him Anakin at this point?) his old lightsaber, and wreak some havoc on your opponent. Replace SOS at the first opportunity with JK Luke so that you have a bit more staying power and so you don't have to lose a force each time you use the test 5 destiny.
A few of the card choices in the deck...
Battle Plan combo - as this is an offensive battling deck (somewhat reminiscent of TRM, but not quite), I don't have to worry about paying to drain... mainly because I won't be draining much. However, as this IS an offensive battling deck, it's nice to have something like this to slow them down a bit, and make them pay for their interrupts in battle.
Leesub - More annoyance than anything else... she's gone in every MWYHL deck I've ever built just because she's a pain in the arse for your opponent. I've also got a knack for picking out the right cards at the right time. Just ask anybody who's seen me play Opac Sentir in Ophidian 2350... I'm already officially banned from playing it in fun games with Gregg Schwartz. >;)
Yoxgit - Gets those weapons back. While the characters themselves may be hitting the Bacta Tank more than the Lost Pile, I'm afraid there isn't exactly a Bacta Tank for weapons. >;)
Landing Claw, RLiR1, GLiG1 - Why not? DS space isn't all that prominent here, but the possibility of seeing it remains, so I thought I'd throw in the "bare minimum" space package for light.
Leia's Back (V) - Pulls Leia from Reserve (or gets her back from Lost)... and later in the game when you start looking at holding some sites, it gives an awesome drain bonus.
I'm not going to list matchups right now, mainly because they would be guesswork more than anything else. Some decks that might be problematic, though: Walkers, Speed Deal (if they drop Deal on turn 1, it could get ugly for a turn), *possibly* Senate (though I haven't seen recent variants enough to know how it plays anymore), SYCFA Fear (but then, who plays that anymore, eh?). Decks that'll be an absolute cakewalk: Saber Combat, Hunt Down, Bring Him Before Me.
The deck hasn't really been tested yet, so please try to keep reviews to constructive criticisms and suggestions for now. If you like it, let me know what you like about it. If you hate it, ditto. You know the drill. >:)
Enjoy!
