response to reviews

Shewski - I'm just not a firm believer in BE(V)... or Redemption (V), for that matter. Neither is really worth the effort, IMO... but that's just me. >:)

Cam - ... lockdown on space... you DID look at the deck, didn't you? >;)

I'd say that what I'm running with right now would be bordering on overkill... though I'll think about pitching Hobbie & ship for Dash & Outrider, at least to see how it runs.

      • END OF UPDATE***

Definitely not your everyday QMC. This deck is much different from the evasion versions most people tend to play, and much different from the QMC Clouds decks that I tend to play... this is more of a QMC Beats deck than anything else, because of the multiple battle destiny potential. Anyways, on to the strat:

First turn, pull Bespin: Cloud City... if you have any Raiders and Patrol Craft in hand, drop them (spread them out between CC and the Casino if you've got two or more). Draw up. Next turn, pull the Downtown Plaza... if you've got the opportunity to flip fairly safely at this point (eg, you have a Raider at the Casino, another Raider/Patrol Craft in hand, and Farmboy and/or R2iR5 in hand), go ahead and do so... and use the flipside text to pull out the Docking Bay. After you flip, use Keeping The Empire Out Forever to set yourself up with a firm grip on the system, or to pull out cards as needed to support the ground. You know the drill.

Spread and drain, use Celebration, Farmboy, and Reflection for retrieval (and Chimes for a quick retrieval once per game), keep cycling characters with Bacta Tank and 2-1B (V), use Liberty as your cycling forfeit fodder at the system, and keep 'react'ing around with those Patrol Craft!

A lot of the card choices here tend more towards local meta and personal preference, especially with some of the characters (Panaka/Padme, EPP Lando, etc), so that pretty much explains those away. A few of the other card choices you may be wondering about:

Battle Plan combo - first things first, nobody expects you to play a non-shield Battle Plan anymore... which is why I play it. Not only does it free up one of my shields, but it also lets me battle for free, and makes the opponent have to pay 1 force every time they want to play an interrupt in battle. For a deck that is primarily defensive/reactive in nature, this is a great card to have, making them choose how they play their in-battle red cards.

Destiny adders - Life Debt is a no-brainer for a deck with Han and (V) Chewbacca, but Protector? Now there's something you don't see everyday... but it makes a lot of sense, as it can also be pulled by Chewie, and coincides with the third member of the band. As for Surreptitious Glance... this card is an awesome surprise beatdown card... leave Lobot (V) alone at a site until the opponent battles him, use him to 'react' by deploying EPP Lando (for free), 'react' with a Patrol Craft and Raider, and play the Glance... that's a base power of 10, two destinies added to power, and 4 battle destinies. Not something your opponent expects to see when they drop a lone EPP Vader to beat the crap out of Lobot. And then there's We Don't Have Time For This... once again, a surprise beatdown card, but mainly because people don't even know that it exists outside of WHAP, THGG and occasionally LSC. Beyond that... personal preference more than anything else.

Enjoy!
