Strategy

First things first, please please PLEASE read the entire strat section all the way through before giving a review. This deck has a LOT of meta-gaming and mind games going on here, so email me or post a message in the forums if you don't understand what's going on with something or why I have something-or-other in here.

This deck is, first and foremost, a manipulation deck. Not just card manip, mind you, but manipulating every aspect of the game, from what's going on with the cards to what's going on in your opponent's head. That mind-manip starts at the very beginning of the game when you drop the Desert Landing Site... most people expect you to drop Maul there and use it for draining, or to drop the Cantina and move him over. But that just ain't gonna happen. That very same kind of mind-manip goes on with a lot of the deck's play. People see that I'm not playing shields, and will feel like they can play their interrupts without worrying about them being grabbed... wrongo!

Another thing about the deck is the fact that while it looks like crap on paper (even I'm more than willing to admit that!), it plays like gold in the right hands. It's a skill deck... period.

Well, on to the strat. Drop the essential senators as you pull 'em (Lott Dod, Yeb Yeb, Edcel, Toonbuck), and keep whatever extra ones you find in hand for use with the political effects, which you'll be using like a madman. Every single turn, be sure to use the flipside text of the objective to pull a political effect, drop cards from your opponent's hand, and pull cards back into your deck off of the political effects. Also, be sure to use Yeb Yeb and Lott Dod each turn as well.

Play the twix's as you find 'em, as well as the Presence's (one Presence to the senate, one to the Dagobah Cave), so that you can keep your activation potential up.

Beyond that... play 'em as you see 'em! Use Trinto Duaba to cause some damage (track a few of your destinies, pay attention to what your opponent is putting into used pile, and try to get down to the tracked destiny that can cause the most damage), use Limited Resources near mid/end-game, Imbalance on opponent's big retrievals.

A few card choices that're probably making you scratch your head:

Vic-Stars - Cheap SD's to put Thrawn on. While some people might think that two force isn't that big a deal, in a deck that is this intensive on saving a bit of force for this and that, every little bit counts... especially near the start of the game and nearing endgame, when your life force is getting so low.

Visage - While "cheap" isn't the word to describe this run-of-the-mill SD, it's ability to drop to non-BG-systems could be useful.

After Her! - A retrieval source that people don't often expect to see. The fact that it's a destiny 5 that also helps a bit on multi-destiny beats is very nice.

Like I said, feel free to send me a message if you've got any questions about the deck, and keep in mind that I AM planning on changing a few cards around (as listed in the decklist).

Enjoy!
