Butch Malec won the 1997 Coruscant Regionals (Pittsburgh), a qualifier for the 1997 Decipher World Championship.[1]
1997 World Championship statement
"I am a senior at General McLane High School in Edinboro. I am a member of the Drama Club, the Academic Competition Team, and Student Council. I play Warhammer 40,000 along with StarWars CCG. Favorite TV shows are Mystery Science Theater 3000 and The Simpsons. My favorite movie is Star Wars: A New Hope, and my favorite band is They Might Be Giants. I plan on going to college next year to study Biology, Chemistry, and Theater. I am a singer in a local ska band named Skat In The Hat. I am good friends with fellow World Finalist Rick Sollman."[2]
