Abyss is a Dark Effect from Cloud City.
Card Text
Deploy on table. If a unique (•) card is drawn for destiny and a duplicate is on table, destiny card is lost (destiny = 0). If duplicated card is a character, it loses immunity to attrition for rest of turn and player must lose 2 Force or lose that character. (Immune to Alter.)
Lore
Careless abuse of the Force by a young Jedi trainee can have dire consequences. When hanging from the weather vane of Cloud City, Luke’s balance was his only hope.
Reviews
- Jeff Hansen, "Chasm/Abyss", Neglected Card Series, Corellian Engineering Corporation (2000). Hansen calls the pair underrated and a defense against decks with many copies of the same main character, best combined with cards that force extra destiny draws (asteroids, Figrin D'an, Epic Duel, Tallon Roll). "Your opponent will be drawing so many destinies that if they have duplicate unique cards in there, they'll hit 'em!"[1]
Combos
- Abyss + Scanning Crew Beware of Shocking Information.[2]
Rulings
- Result will trigger successfully even if character has no immunity to attrition to lose.[2]
- For a card to be considered 'duplicated on table', it must be active on table. Not inactive (e.g. Undercover, captive, missing) and not supporting (e.g. stacked on a grabber such as Tentacle).
