Skywalkers is a cancelled Decipher expansion (CardGuide #34; this wiki #34 after Death Star II Starter Decks). It is not the Premiere interrupt Skywalkers.
It was planned as the first of three character-themed expansions after Death Star II, scheduled for November 2000. The set would have focused on Luke, Leia, Vader, and the relationships among them. Decipher's working name for the new mechanic was "Lichtenstein": instead of printing new versions of those characters, Lichtenstein cards would grant new capabilities to existing character cards already in play.[1][2]
The Death Star II starter-deck rulebook advertised Skywalkers together with Shadows of the Empire as the next two expansions. Lucasfilm then asked Decipher to mix The Phantom Menace into the original-trilogy game. Tatooine was originally framed as a Skywalker-family set and was rebuilt around podracing and Episode I characters.[2]
No retail packaging was released. Do not treat encyclopedia mock-ups of unreleased booster packs as authentic product photography.
