Have you ever been playing the Dark Side, and very near to the end of the game, been fussing because you've only just now dropped your [[Reactor Terminal]]? You're positive that your opponent is going to activate everything that they've got, and draw you out of dropping those 10-15 cards that you've had in your hand for the whole game. I know it's a little cheesy, but its commonplace in tournament. After all, everyone's out to protect their own differential. That's where [[Defensive Fire]] comes in. You patiently wait while your opponent draws their Force (remembering that drawing each single card is a single action), and when they get down to just one left in their Force Pile, fire one across their bow! Play [[Defensive Fire]] to cause one of the cards from their hand to return to their Used Pile, too bad, so sad. On your next turn, drop your hand with your [[Reactor Terminal]], and smile your way to victory. | |||
I won't even mention the most obvious use of this card, (now less so since [[Limited Resources]] was bulleted), but how about this: When your opponent drops all of his excess cards with his [[Traffic Control]], play this Interrupt, and your almost sure to get something good that he was planning to play during that turn. Have you ever been playing the Dark Side, and very near to the end of the game, been fussing because you've only just now dropped your Reactor Terminal? You're positive that your opponent is going to activate everything that they've got, and draw you out of dropping those 10-15 cards that you've had in your hand for the whole game. I know it's a little cheesy, but its commonplace in tournament. After all, everyone's out to protect their own differential. That's where Defensive Fire comes in. You patiently wait while your opponent draws their Force (remembering that drawing each single card is a single action), and when they get down to just one left in their Force Pile, fire one across their bow! Play Defensive Fire to cause one of the cards from their hand to return to their Used Pile, too bad, so sad. On your next turn, drop your hand with your Reactor Terminal, and smile your way to victory.
I won't even mention the most obvious use of this card, (now less so since Limited Resources was bulleted), but how about this: When your opponent drops all of his excess cards with his Traffic Control, play this Interrupt, and your almost sure to get something good that he was planning to play during that turn. Or how about this - Wait until he has no Destiny to draw, play this, and perhaps snare that annoying little Sense/Alter that he's been saving.
Hey, and it's a Used Interrupt, destiny 3, and generally annoying to your opponent!
The possibilities for combos aren't as great as maybe some other cards, but the ones that do exist are not bad.
Defensive Fire + Frustration - If your opponent ever has only one card in hand, this little combo played during your opponent's Control Phase will ensure that that one "gamesaver" card wont see the light of day.
Defensive Fire + Limited Resources - Duh.
Defensive Fire + Scanning Crew - Hand destruction at it's finest.
Defensive Fire + Defensive Fire - Generally annoying.
of using it because your opponents know that you use this card?
This used to happen to me a lot. I noticed that my opponents would always keep one card extra in hand and I couldn't do a thing about it. But since Dagobah came out, I know better. This combination is simple, but if played at the right time, can quickly become a thorn in your adversary's side.
The card Defensive Fire reads as follows: "Cancel Rogue Asteroid. OR Randomly select one card from opponent's hand and place it, unseen, in Used Pile." The second part is the one you should keep in mind. When you see that your opponent has 3 cards in his hand, just enough to stop you from using Limited Resources, you strike with Defensive Fire using the OR part of its text.
Randomly choose one card and place it in the Used Pile. Then, strike him with Limited Resources to make him "lose 2 Force (4 Force if it is your turn)." Sure, you will lose Limited Resources because it is a LOST INTERRUPT, but you get to keep Defensive Fire. Since this is a USED INTERRUPT, you don't have to put many of them in your deck, thus not altering much of its content.
