Chuck Kallenbach is a Decipher game designer and former SWCCG playtester who later worked full-time on Decipher card games including Young Jedi, Jedi Knights, and The Lord of the Rings TCG.[1]

This page is a fan encyclopedia stub focused on SWCCG-related, sourced roles. It does not treat Kallenbach as a founding SWCCG designer (see Creators of SWCCG and Gaps).

Path into Decipher / SWCCG

TheOneRing's May 2002 interview states that Kallenbach was a playtester for the premiere Star Trek and Star Wars CCGs and joined Decipher full-time in 1997, later helping develop Young Jedi, Jedi Knights, and the Lord of the Rings TCG.[1] An October 2001 TheOneRing chat bio likewise places him on STCCG, SWCCG, Young Jedi, Jedi Knights, and LOTR TCG work (including LOTR rules editing).[2]

Wikipedia's SWCCG designer line lists Tom Braunlich, Rollie Tesh, Warren Holland, and Jerry Darcy — not Kallenbach.[3] An old CardGuide-derived listing that named him among SWCCG designers is treated on Creators of SWCCG as a conflict / likely error unless a primary Decipher credit sheet is cited.[4]

The published Squadron Members roster lists him as Gold 2, Overland, Missouri (Retired).[5][6] The GeoCities anagram table (Encyclopedia 3.2 p.200) maps Chall Bekan and Imperial Helmsman (Bachenhall) to the Kallenbach family, Chyler to Cheryl Kallenbach, and Blizzard 2 (Nevar) / Nevar Yalnal to Raven, Kallenbach's dog.[7]

TheForce.Net Flashback interview (bylined Red 84 / Josh Radke) is Kallenbach on Premiere-era playtest: Sandy Wible won the Genie internet-representative job over him, then asked him to playtest SWCCG; unopposed battles were dropped for Force drain during the first Virginia playtest; he went 9–1 with a Star Destroyer deck that day (nickname "Devastator Chuck"); Gravel Storm was his title suggestion, with the easter egg added in-house.[8]

Decipher design appearances (sourced labels)

Radio Free Decipher episode indexes place Kallenbach with Darcy and Tom Lischke on early SWCCG-related broadcasts, and later as a guest on Young Jedi, Jedi Knights, and LOTR topics.[9] Decipher WARS Radio later billed him in a WARS Brand Manager capacity.[10]

Modern interviews (Booster Pack, KendallCast / Corran on the Horn, BoardMatt) discuss his Decipher career across SWCCG, Star Trek, Young Jedi, LOTR, and later titles; those shows do not replace primary packaging bylines.[11][12][13][14]
