Test only. This page compares a Reflections Gold card, Looking To The Future, re-rendered in the SWCCG Card Maker with the current remaster and the earlier patched fix, so each claim can be checked by eye. The Card Maker renders come from a scratch copy on the Grok Bot computer, not the live Card Maker. No live card image or card page has changed.

All close-ups are 400% (nearest-neighbour, no smoothing) unless a caption says otherwise. All measurements are in pixels on the 745 x 1039 card image.

The four cards

Card Maker, original Decipher symbol Card Maker, remastered gold coin Current live remaster Earlier patched fix v2

The two Card Maker cards use the Bardez Light Side Effect frame and its blank lore plate. All the text is drawn fresh by the Card Maker, and the picture is the art window cut from the live remaster.

Lore box

The same lore box region on all four cards. Neither Card Maker version shows a block, because its plate never had text on it. The live remaster has the darker rectangle behind "Cloud City and Hoth behind them". The patch removed most of it.

The same region with local contrast tripled (a 20 px blur subtracted, then the difference made three times stronger), which shows hidden plate edges. On the live remaster the rectangle stands out clearly. The patch still has a faint trace: the plate behind the first line is smoother than the plate around it. The Card Maker plate has the same grain and diagonal scratches all the way across.

Set symbols

1: the original Decipher sphere, drawn 33 px across in a 36 px black hole. 2: the remastered coin, with a 23 px gold disc centred at (670.9, 185.9). 3 and 4: the live remaster and the patch, with a 25 px gold disc centred at (667.9, 187.9), so the Card Maker coin is 2 px smaller and 3 px right. 5: the first Card Maker draft put the coin inside the black hole as well, which doubled the black ring into a thick one. That is fixed in 2. The patch uses the live coin, so it never had this problem.

The sources at their real size, shown at 400%. The original sphere is 76 px across on the proof scan File:RG-C1-Local-Trouble.jpg, the clearest of six large proof scans. The remastered coin is 28 px across on File:RG-GEMP-Looking-To-The-Future.png, and no larger copy was found. On Looking To The Future's own proof scan, File:RG-C1-Looking-To-The-Future.jpg, the sphere is only 14 px. Bottom: the gold coin the Card Maker uses today (288 px). It has a red frame ring baked in, and its source is not recorded (it looks enlarged from a small image). Both new symbols were only resized, with no AI upscaling and no retouching, so the 312 px files hold no more detail than their sources.

Frame wear

Right side of the top. The Card Maker frame has a pinker red plate (hue 2–4°, against 4–7.5° on the remaster) and blue-grey flecks (blue minus red +3 to +13, against −10 to −20 for the remaster's warm grey). It also has a gold scuff and a white scratch under the symbol, and faint embossed marks above and below the destiny number. The remaster instead has dark scuff spots on the destiny lobe.

Left margin: the same plate colour and fleck difference.

Two Bardez frame marks the remaster does not have: blue-grey streaks on the red band above the EFFECT banner (about x 270–330), and a white triangular tear with a dark squiggle on the bottom edge, centre.

Copyright line

The right edge, turned to read sideways. The Card Maker prints "© 2001 LUCASFILM LTD. & TM. TM, ® & © 2001 DECIPHER INC." in black on the red margin. Part of the line runs over the gold scuff. The Decipher proof scan prints the same words. The live remaster has no copyright line.

Art window

The live remaster's art window (562 x 381) at 200%. The Card Maker shows only the part inside the red outline. It scales the picture up 2.25% to fill its window, which has a slightly different shape. Compared with the remaster, it loses about 2 px on the left, 9 px on the right, 6 px at the top and 4 px at the bottom. Part of the right-hand loss comes from the cut art being 3 px narrower than the live window.

The top-right and bottom-left corners of the art. The Card Maker window spans x 91–654, y 294–672; the remaster's spans x 89–650, y 295–675.

Typography

Title and lore at 200%, with an overlay: red for Card Maker only, blue for live only, black for both. The title starts about 4 px further right and is about 2 px shorter (cap tops at y 70 against 68). The lore type is about 2.5–3% narrower. Lore line 1 starts 4 px further right (x 166 against 162) and sits about 2–3 px higher. Line 2 starts about 14 px further right (x 129 against 115). The Card Maker prints the comma after "them", as the Decipher proof does; the live remaster lacks it.

The left side of the title and lore, showing the bullet, the first letters and the indents.

Effect disc and destiny

The Light Side Effect disc is part of the Bardez frame. Its green picture is 69 x 70 px, centred about 1.5 px right of and 3 px above the remaster's (70 x 70). The silver rim around it is thicker on the Card Maker. The destiny disc is about 52 px on both. The Card Maker centre is 3 px right and 5 px higher, at (647.3, 90.3) against (644.4, 95.1), and its "5" is 25 x 26 px against 26 x 27.

Everything else

Brightness difference between the Card Maker card (original symbol) and the live remaster. Bright areas differ. Besides the expected art, text and wear differences, almost every frame edge shows as a thin line. The Bardez frame sits 1–3 px off the remaster's frame in many places. For example, the EFFECT banner plate is 3 px higher (y 704–759 against 707–761).

Questions for Bill

  1. Default symbol for Reflections Gold in the Card Maker: the original Decipher sphere or the remastered gold coin?
  2. Is the Bardez frame wear (pinker red, blue-grey flecks, the gold scuff and white scratch, the banner streaks and the bottom tear) acceptable? If not, we need a cleaner frame for these cards.
  3. Keep the 2001 copyright line (it is on the Decipher proof) or leave it off to match the remaster?
  4. May the 28 px remastered coin be redrawn as a clean vector disc? That would be a redraw, not an extraction.
  5. Should the art be placed 1:1 from the remaster's measured window instead of cover-fitted (cover-fitting scales it up 2.25% and trims the edges)?
  6. Should the title and lore size and indents be tuned to match the remaster exactly, or follow the Card Maker's standard Decipher layout?
