Tournament Guidelines is the procedure document for running a Star Wars CCG event.

  • Decipher issued a tournament guide (PDF / HTML / text). The 15 April 1997 printing is linked from the 1998 overview page. A later shared CCG guide sat on tournaments.decipher.com as tournamentguide-stswyj.
  • The Players Committee document in force is Official Tournament Guide 2.2 (revised July 2018).

Players Committee changes

  • 2003. The Players Committee's four-level Championship Circuit: Level 1 State, National and Provincial Championships (six to eight games of Swiss and a top-2 final; the winner qualified for Day 2 of Worlds), Level 2 Open Qualifiers (eight games and a top-4 playoff; top 2 to Day 2), Level 3 DPC Championship Series events with DeckTech (top 2 to Day 2), and Level 4 the World Championship.[1] Team tournaments at Origins, Gen Con and Dragon*Con in 2003 were to qualify players for a planned 2004 Regional Team Championship at Gen Con (teams of three from the same region).[2] From 1 January 2003 Decipher ratings used a "K" value of 16 for local events, 32 for Level 1, 48 for Level 2 and 64 for Levels 3–4.[3]
  • 2004. The 2004 Championship Series (announced 18 February 2004) had Level 1 States, Provincials and Mini-Opens (winner's bye), Level 2 DPCs, Level 3 Nationals, Continentals, Invitationals and Majors (winner and runner-up byes), and Level 4 Worlds.[4]
  • 2005. For Worlds 2005 qualifiers, "Tournament directors CANNOT play in their own qualifier, no matter the number of players or if it will avert a bye."[5]
  • 1 April 2008. Changes announced by Michael Erisman for the Tournament Committee: a tournament director may play in his own event if he names an assistant judge and a back-up judge (a three-judge system), the event is not a constructed Championship-level event with a cash prize or several Day 2 byes, and he wins no prize other than tournament glass and Day 2 byes; and every Championship-level event must have at least six games.[6]
