Talk:Unofficial repackaged products

Missing data

  • Maker's name for the second series is not confirmed; only the Vintage Sports Cards notice on the box in Bill's photo names a maker.
  • No Decipher or wholesaler record of the stock sale. No exact first-sale date. Toys "R" Us sale of this box is recalled only as "I believe".
  • The Reddit post's photo (ibb.co/wQy3DZj) is now 404 and has no Wayback capture.
  • No eBay sold listings were captured.

Possibly faulty data

  • Derek Whaley (BGG) says Decipher "liquidated its stock to some wholesaler" in 2001. Plausible but unsourced; the article states only the pack-date bound.
  • The box art figures may not be actual Star Wars characters (Reddit: "janky fake characters"); the article describes them without naming them.

Marginal cuts

  • BGG reply (UK): Toys "R" Us UK sold Special Edition starters cheaply in the early 2000s. Not a repack; left out.

Build notes

  • (BGG thread now resolved via snapshot, see below.) Still pending: Wayback Save Page Now returned 520 from the box on 13 October 2026. Queued in ops/wayback/queue.txt: BGG thread, BGG photo (pic6968734), Arctic Shift comment/post JSON. A self-contained snapshot of the BGG thread is built at /workspace/repack/snap/bgg-thread-2902121.html for copying to swccg.com/snapshots/bgg/ (BGG is behind Cloudflare). Replace "pending" once captures exist.
  • Reddit comments read via the Arctic Shift and Pullpush APIs (link_id hx9o77).

Moved from article (13 Oct 2026)

  • Inferred: the bundles were made from stock Decipher sold off around the end of its license; no Decipher or wholesaler record found.
  • Cut a duplicate "Sources" list (all items remain as references).

Marginal cuts (13 Oct 2026 rewrite)

  • Full side-panel quote: "This product was repackaged by VINTAGE SPORTS CARDS, INC. Star Wars is a trademark of Lucasfilm, Ltd. Vintage Sports Cards, Inc. is not connected with Lucasfilm, Ltd. This package contains genuine Star Wars Cards, independently repackaged by Vintage Sports Cards, Inc. In Texas." (Jeremy Christoffel photo)
  • End panel: "Distributed by Vintage Sports Cards, Conroe, Texas 77385" (eBay 287632079846).
  • 2022 BGG first-series box: Young Jedi starter, two Reflections, Limited Light Side starter, Premiere Unlimited, two Jabba's Palace, Tatooine, Cloud City.
  • 2020 Reddit box: Young Jedi (Menace of Darth Maul, Jedi Council starter, Duel of the Fates), Jedi Knights booster, Death Star II, Jabba's Palace, Reflections, Reflections III.
  • Kmart detail: California, near the checkout. Toys "R" Us recalled as "probably" (BGG/Reddit); ICv2 confirms VSC sold through Toys "R" Us generally.
  • "Bundles gone by the mid-2000s"; second series had "almost no Jedi Knights"; Whaley named as the Dollar Tree source.
  • Dating: boxes contain Reflections III packs (October 2001), so assembled no earlier than late 2001.
  • "Fantastic Value For Only $9.99" sticker wording (now "marked down to $9.99").

Missing data

  • Resolved 13 Oct 2026: BGG thread 2902121 and eBay 287632079846 are preserved as swccg.com snapshots captured by the Internet Archive (BGG, eBay); cited in the article and file pages.
