Talk:Jedi Knights Trading Card Game

From SWCCG Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Missing data

  • Pack MSRP for Scum and Villainy / Masters of the Force boosters; card count of Masters of the Force (no archived Decipher set page found; Wayback CDX was offline during research).
  • Whether the November 2001 Jedi Knights World Championship was ever held. English Wikipedia names "Brian Muller - Freedom Con" (2001) and Bertrand Mayer (2002, French convention), uncited. Not used.

Possibly faulty data

  • Scum and Villainy date: Decipher's May 2001 announcement gives street date 11 July 2001 (ref "exp"); the Players Committee page gives only "Summer 2001" (ref "pc"). The article states 11 July 2001 and cites both. Actual ship date not confirmed.
  • The SciFi.com review (Lee Bates) was written from the approved rules and preliminary card images, before release.
  • Scum and Villainy date: Decipher's announced street date 11 July 2001; Players Committee says "Summer 2001". Actual ship date unverified.
  • Wikipedia says Force Power cards debuted in Masters of the Force; Decipher's May 2001 announcement put "Jedi and Sith Power cards" in Scum and Villainy. Left out.
  • RetroTCG (retrotcg.net) claims a cancelled Knights of the Old Republic fourth set and prequel content; looks unreliable (2001 game, no source). Not used.
  • Release planning: StarWars-Union.de (3 November 2000, https://starwars-union.de/decipher-starwars-ccg-update/) said the game was due in December 2000; a Decipher flyer (theswca.com item 15291) said "Coming Fall 2000". Cut from the article because no Wayback copy of the StarWars-Union page could be made (save returned 520; queued in ops/wayback/queue.txt).
  • Masters of the Force card count: Decipher's card list numbers run to 140 (inferred from the archived card-list URLs, not stated by a source).
  • Market saturation: no Decipher source says saturation worried the company. The only first-hand Decipher view is Kallenbach's "product differentiation was much harder" (TFN Flashback, undated). The Gen Con 2000 Usenet report by Patrick Dolan is a contemporary player's complaint. Not found: Lischke interviews in Scrye or InQuest (InQuest ran a "Basic Training" feature, per decipher.com, but no text found online); Radio Free Decipher 46 (15 August 2000, Kyle Heuer interviews Warren Holland on Jedi Knights) and RFD 67/85 exist as audio/video only in the LOTR-TCG PC wiki index; not transcribed.

Marginal cuts

  • "Red 32's Jedi Knights TCG Site" (cmikehardy.tripod.com) copies a Gen Con 2000 announcement text: the game "creates an entry point for new gamers, an advancement opportunity for Young Jedi players, and a fresh challenge for Star Wars CCG aficionados". Not used: the original Decipher source was not found and the page could not be fetched or archived.

Identity matches (small-world rule)
