Missing data
- A 1994 Star Trek: The Next Generation CCG Premiere booster-box photo was not found on Wikimedia Commons; the Wikipedia card-back file is the product identifier.
- USCF Life Master title: Wikipedia cites USCF MSA ID 10386161; uschess.org blocked automated access, so the title is not cited here. The FIDE rating (2101) and chessgames.com record are cited instead.
- Rollie Tesh's own chess rating: only his 1999 Radio Free Decipher statement (expert rating, said by Braunlich). No rating record found.
- A full search of Decipher's SWCCG pages (about 1,000 Wayback URLs under decipher.com/starwars/) for the word "chess" was not finished. Only the "Customizable Card Game? What's that?" page is confirmed. Its earliest capture is 13 October 1999; whether that version already had the chess paragraph was not checked.
- Decipher's Pente pages (www2.decipher.com/s1/partyzone/pente/) and Braunlich's Pente newsletter articles (playpente.com) were not read.
Possibly faulty data
- Wikipedia's Pente article does not list Decipher as a Pente publisher; Tesh said in 1999 that Decipher sold Pente, and Designers & Dragons (via Wikipedia) says the same.
- The design firm's name: The Duelist 9 credits "Technical Design Services"; its text and The Duelist 3 say "Technical Game Services".
Marginal cuts
- Bill Bisco's views that role-playing games inspired SWCCG, and that Magic's ante may have inspired Sabacc ("Magic the Gathering's Influence on CCG Standards", 03:48). No designer source.
- Allen Varney's 1996 counter-view that the game felt like "generic space combat" (The Duelist 9).
- The Ringer (2018) says both designers "were expert chess players" (journalist's wording).
Build notes
- Images (2026-10-15): Premiere Limited box (existing File); Staunton chess set (Commons CC BY-SA 3.0, Staxringold); sample Pente game (Commons CC BY-SA 4.0, T0afer); Star Trek CCG card back (Wikipedia product ID); Magic: The Gathering play photo (Commons CC BY 1.0, Andre Engels, 2004); Luke Skywalker Premiere card for film stills as card art.
- Chess quotes from Radio Free Decipher 14 (16 April 1999, 00:27–01:42) and Booster Pack 27/28 transcripts; Bill Bisco's video quotes checked against audio.
